Teacher went around asking who's people's religion were as an example for something she was teaching. She got to me and I simply stated "I don't want to offend anyone here but I'm not religious. I'm atheist with a strong believe in the universe that is science." She simply patted my shoulder turned to the class and said "kids this is a prime example of someone who will end up going to hell. May god have mercy on his soul." The ironic thing was, she's a science teacher that teaches earth, space, and biology and she's a hard core Christian? Plus to humiliate a student (me) like that in front of everyone. I'm glad that a few students actually stood up for me. But still its rather disrespectful and dumb to tell a teen that their going to hell just cause their believe is different. She had also told another kid they were going to hell cause they were Buddhist. She's had a bad history of being a terrible bigot and she's not fired?

Wrong

Just like the earth is flat and the center of the universe according to the church and anyone who disagreed was going to hell
-
They did not believe the Earth was flat though, that's a common misconception, Dante Allighierri (hope I spelled that right) wrote the Divine Comedy, in Paradiso the planets were not flat, he was a follower of the Church, I'm not sure about geocentrism though, you may be right about the Church believing the earth was the center of the Galaxy, but they never condemned Galileo a heretic for saying the Earth was not the center of the universe

Um its may that comment was in january?
-
Oh sorry lol I just saw this for some reason, I guess someone bumped it and I got into the comments

Sure that happened

Edited by The Space Nib: 1/2/2015 9:08:16 AM
Sure that happened
Yea it happened. You don't know what goes on in my life and there people on this planet that are cruel enough to do so. Why would I make any of this up?

I'm a Christian but this teacher is an a-hole!

I don't know what I am. I believe in Christian and Buddhist beliefs. But I don't go to church every Sunday, and I'm not a hard core Buddhist because that means I have to give up meat and I can't do that. XD and Buddhism is not an established religion. But mostly I believe in Intelligent Design. If you don't know what that is, please look it up.

I belive in sience and im a christian. I have a theory of everything. But if she actualy said you are going to hell she should be punished and she isnt "God" so she cant decide that. I respect you as a regular person and in the bible it says "what gose around comes around". Wich is basically karma.

Science doesn't require belief. Evidence, proof, facts, empirical data... All these things simply exist, whether you "believe" or not. The power of truth.
-
Their "belief" not believe and just cause someone's a Christian doesn't mean they can't believe in science. I'm a Christian but I'll be first to say the creationism is bullsh*t
-
Edited by The Space Nib: 12/30/2014 5:25:23 PMI know you can still be Christian while having the belief of science and there's nothing wrong with that, but her case was special. She said that teaching science is just a career but she doesn't have any sort of belief in any of it. She said that if she could she would just wipe out science classes from all schools and just replace them with Christian classes and bible study and stuff like that. It baffles me why such a crazed old woman can teach a subject that has to be taken seriously and with an open mind and she's yet to be fired or moved. (Ill just let you believe what you want about creationism cause I'm not about that arguing life. I'll just give you a thumbs up instead, even though I say and believe the opposite. Peace not war.)

Science doesn't depend on the Big Bang and evolution, though. I'm not defending her, I'm just saying.
-
I would have stayed in the class and for the rest of the year wore my Carl Sagan and Darwin shirts every day and made a mockery of her religion at every oppurtunity. Maybe I'm immature but it would be satisfying as he'll.
-
I wish Carl Sagan stuck around longer, he died the year I was born and I grew up with his Cosmos show.
-
Yeah dude he was brilliant. He made a republican senator, who was also a Christian zealot, admit he was looking at things the wrong way with evolution just with sheer intellect. And yeah Carl Sagan got me into physics and I'm on my way to A bachelor's now
-
I had a teacher teaching biology who was also the head of the Christian Club or something at school. Always confused me.
-
LOL I don't care if I was going to be suspended I would talk back to the teacher until I get my point across.
-
I'd piss myself in laughter at the dumb bitch lol
-
Wow. What a hypocrite
-
What the f I don't believe in god and if my teacher did that I would be angry
-
Probably can't be fired because of (Forgot name of thing) Tenure laws.
