Zap guns travel through groups of enemies and can nearly wipe out 20 soldiers of any sort with a single bullet.

Space marines are more than soldiers. A bullet from a zap gun would leave a mark on their armor. Nothing more.

It's not a bullet its electricity so it doesn't have to worry about armor, and if their armor is metal they're even more screwed.

Their armor isn't just plain metal. It's a composite of PermaSteel and isolator
