Janus Corporation conducts further research into Tiberium and its weaponisation. A breakthrough has been made that allows a non-harmful and nigh indestructible variant of Tiberium to be created. It has been implemented in the armour of ships, vehicles and personnel. Should a ship, soldier or vehicle be captured, the Tiberium can be remotely 'detonated', making it harmful once more and killing the occupants of the vehicle or the soldier.
