So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

Pfffff to much text.. Get a life?
-
Why are these old posts being brought back to the top?
-
Okay. Never gone that glitch myself. People should not be banned simply because they exploited s glitch in the game. Perhaps if Bungie had come and said " we are going to patch this. It is considered cheating and if you use after "x" day you will be banned". But they didn't and took weeks to fix a known glitch. It would be very wanky of them to ban when they did nothing to prevent it being abused.
-
I believe a week long ban and a full stat wipe is in order for this cheat.
-
U are giving bungie way way waaaay to much credit man. Yes kneeling glitch is cheating. But it was found 72-96 hrs after raid come out but yet took over a month to patch. Lets put this is perspectice for a sec the worlds largest mmo (wow) has maybe 50-100 more ppl working there but can fix a cheese within 72hrs at most. Yet bungie take 1-2 months to fix a cheese and when they do they usally leave a simalar cheese in its place (lantern section) ergo bungie dont care if u cheese
-
What if you don't want to exploit the glitch, but everyone you are playing with do? Do you still deserve to get banned? I couldn't find a single group to do the raid with normally, without cheese! But I still wanted the gear so went along with it anyway??
-
The saltiness is strong with this one
-
So, I hear those bans haven't been made yet...
-
We cheesed so one of our fireteam members could make his son lunch and walk the dog. He was in the raid w/ us for almost 2 hours before that, I don't think he deserves to get banned.

Problem is, they can't ban someone cause of Probability

Edited by SaveTheGnomesV2: 1/16/2015 6:46:42 AMNot to troll, but your math assumes a uniform distribution of disconnects throughout the raid....which is an incorrect assumption. If we looked at the time where most of the population disconnects, the average probably sits right before crota kneeling and tails off towards earlier times. So, the probability is probably 4 or 5 orders of magnitude greater than your initial estimate. Also..... Royal flushes happen everyday on online poker sites.... Multiple times. Although they are rare for an individual, their occurrence is certain within a large enough population. In online games like this, we are constantly dealing with the law of large numbers and the behavior of the community is similar to virus evolution. Wherever you pose the selective pressure, the likelihood of finding flaws within that frame becomes almost certain because nearly every possible state exists at one time. Instead of getting mad at cheesing, try to appreciate the beauty of what we are seeing happen within these raids. I think it's remarkable, but I'm a turbo nerd.

If Bungie banned people for their own mistakes that gamers were smart enough to find but Bungie were not... The mixture of stupid and depressing would be more than enough motivation to just stop playing. Seriously. Find your own glitches or deal with it... Pretty simple for game developers who actually care. And anyone who considers finding a way to "cheese" in the game to be "cheaters"... You're diluted. That's just called being a gamer and playing a game whose own developers apparently don't give enough cares about to test it efficiently first lol. So to that I say to everyone, cheese away and be merry!
-
Only people who need to get banned are the Network Manipulators. Seriously, I'm sick and tired of seeing one random douche on the other team teleport around like a DBZ character. That's just bulls**t. Why should people who have good connection have to put up with these people?
-
No. How many people cheesed templar/atheon? And how many were banned? none. There was never this level of complaining about it either.
-
I was one of those 15000 yeah!!!!
-
Lolz they will be banning the majority of their customer base so no that won't happen.
-
Do you snipe the oracles from the top? Do you snipe the Templar from top while the relic holder goes down to the bottom? As far as I concerned that's cheesing too and if you do any of those above you are in no position to judge those who cheese CE, end of.
-
-_- Who the -blam!- bumped this shit
-
I look at it this way. It's bungies fault for not securing the raid and making sure you can't cheese the raids. The glitch was in use for weeks on end. Bungie knew about it but still waits to push out an update for it.
-
Wtf if wrong with people. Go away OP.

Banning anyone who left a raid by disconnection would be the end of destiny, how many people have been dropped during vog for instance? I got kicked by it twice this week alone.

Ban me im here do it do it nowwwwwee
