So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

If you're going to ban people for this, you need to go back & ban half the player base for shoving the Templar & Atheon off their ledges. It'll get fixed, use the exploits or don't. It isn't PvP, you aren't cheating anyone out of anything. It really isn't a big deal.
-
I've made 3 royal flushes, -blam!- your math.

Edited by PredatorShroom: 12/25/2014 10:02:59 PMIf they could isolate which person is doing the d/c-ing then I have no problem with it. The host decides if the group cheeses or not. I'm not so stuck up that I'm NOT going to kill Crota if someone does the work for me. :/ EDIT: Also how can Bungie honestly ban someone when their servers are complete crap and people d/c because of the server.
-
Its bungies fault for not testing it properly, its not like the cheeser have modded save files or anything like that, its a glitch that will be fixed shortly
-
If your cheesing Crota your a scrub and should be ban because he is easy to beat legit . Can kill him before ogres spawn. Stop cheating kids because when hard raid comes you will be lost
-
Its a bug in their game. You can NEVER get banned for that. But Like NEVER!
-
Lol this is the lamest thing I've read on this forum to date
-
Why you bothered? It'll be patched and nobody will be banned. All you've done is look like an asshole who got shit on by RNG
-
Yes give them a one week minimum ban to make them miss at least one week of raid rewards for their pathetic transgressions
-
Ur so Worryed bout gay as cheese when u should be Worryed bout ppl hacking ur account dumbass
-
doing this last night with some friends, I was wondering if you can do this to Atheon when he raises his arm and freezes up.
-
My question is what if (completely by chance) someone's network goes out as crota goes down, causing the glitch? Is the whole raid team suppose to just leave and try again? You can't ban someone for something that can happen out of your own control.
-
No. Bungie should be banned for allowing the whole raid to be cheesed by one person
-
Fact is, nobody can get banned. It's not a cheat. It's a glitch. Using glitches in games is very common and not a bannable offence. Crota is defeated like the game requires, with the Sword while he's down. All they'll do is fix it so Crota wont stay kneeled, that's it. They can't even pinpoint the difference between leaving and lagging out, so there's no use to even try it. There's no direct modification to the game or server. Only an exploitation of an error which they clearly need to fix.
-
I have 2 confirmed friends that have been banned for doing the glitch.
-
ITS A GOD DAMN GAME. STOP COMPLAINING.
-
Bungie fked up their coding, they know it, we know it, but the lil crybaby kiddies don't understand that this was bungies screw up and no one will be punished for taking advantage of a coding mistake they made...remember atheon cheese? Oh yea no bans...
-
I think people who discover and spread word of exploits via forums or YouTube should be banned. Right now they need to focus on getting it patched for Hard mode raid.
-
Yall are getting way to worked up over a video game.
-
I don't think they should be banned but I do think cheesing should be stopped as much as possible with patches
-
I dont care about getting banned, i just wanna know how somebody figured it out lmao was it an accident ?
-
Simply, yes. If you can't defeat a raid boss legitimately you don't deserve the rewards. Don't get me wrong, there are many strategies which can be implemented throughout a raid with no harm. (Cheering oracles, finding a quick route to traverse the abyss, ect.) With that being said, using a method of dropping out of a game and rejoining to change the way the game plays is not okay. It's more than a strategy, it's altering the game. I honestly don't even know how it's done, I have a legit raid group and we run it pretty consistently and efficiently. It really isn't that hard to meet some cool people to raid with.
-
I was invited onto a team, and they did this......I have to say this is some rotten cheese. If this is the way you play the game, why even play it?

Nihlist

My opinion put simply: http://youtu.be/SQoA_wjmE9w
-
I've had to many network disconnects just before getting the reward for whatever I was doing. So I call this as bungee paying me back for all the missed rewards.
