So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.

Q: What behaviors can lead Bungie to apply account restrictions or bans to a user? Bungie regards the following behavior to be in breach of the license agreement that governs Destiny, and therefore potentially subject to access restrictions: Connecting to the Destiny game service with any of the following: -Modified game software -Modified game assets -Modified console hardware -Modified console firmware -Using an external program to modify the operation of the Destiny game software (trainer or mod) -Using an external program or device to automate gameplay or circumvent idle detection -Modification or interruption of Destiny network traffic with intent to disrupt other players’ experiences or to gain advantage in the game -Intentionally deriving gameplay benefit from another user’s behavior in the above categories -Unauthorized access to Destiny software or downloadable content (game piracy) Impersonating a Bungie, Microsoft, Sony, or Activision employee It’s pretty simple, really. Nobody, especially not Bungie, wants players to miss out on Destiny. Please don’t ruin the experience for anyone, including yourself. And remember, we’re always keeping an eye out for those who would spoil the world of Destiny" Theres that as well

If they want to tell us to -blam!- off and never fix anything that's wrong in this game except exploits, then -blam!- them I'm gonna cheese EVERYTHING
-
Whaa whaaa whaaa! Dude youre crying over a -blam!-ing videogame dont like it dont do it and stay behind all of us intelligent opportunist that take advantage of bungie mistakes, do you really think we are gettig ban cause bungie -blam!-ed it up again lol
-
You do realize your link to the guy getting ban only leads to another vague reference of a guy getting banned?
-
I don't understand the anger over cheeseing "not a word". If u dont like it dont do it. We are guardians and if u think about it as guardians u would want any upper hand to kill Croata. U wouldn't b like oh hey Mr./Mrs. Croata we are sorry u fell to ur knee here let me help u up, no way ud b he/she is down take the b##ch out! Besides if they had polished the game before releasing it they would have so many glitches, make the game right and no problem to begin with.
-
People will always look for shortcuts and exploitation when available. They'll patch it and people will look for new loopholes. Just part of the game. Players should learn the proper way, the way the game was intended on being played as well.
-
Omg all the whining people need to insert the moon d!ck back in their pole holsters.
-
I would like to know how they can prove you did this considering people have been losing all their vault inventory and have only heard that bungie can't help because they can't see if you actually had the stuff that was taken.
-
Can someone please explain what exactly people are doing with this exploit and how it works
-
How would them being banned make your destiny experience any better? It wouldn't because it doesn't affect you're game play.... Ohhhh so there's the answer
-
Edited by Lawlzor96: 12/23/2014 7:47:45 PMI cheese because I'm sick of bugggssss (and a team that always has one person who quits) Fuçkin Crota leaps off his platform and chases us around, Knights glitch through the shielded walls and kill us, Crota instantly regening shields after he begins kneeling, chalice not picking up, sword disappearing, health regenerating enemies that should've died, enemies that teleport and spawn in your face to melee you. How about fixing the bugs before fixing exploits, so people can actually do it legit without needing to be lucky just to succeed.
-
Does title post has good grammar?? Haha trolling aside, I don't see how they can ban people for cheesing croata if they didn't do it for Atheon. They just need to fix it ASAP
-
-
no cause thats how scrubs stay scrubs and im totally ok with that.
-
Wtf banned for kneeling. What difference does it make to you ? Is it hurting you in any way shape or form ? When your getting rained on with fire from the other side were do you hide. Do you use your op guns to shoot the enemy. Don't you ever look for a bargain ? This is there's let them enjoy it for now. The great crota Christmas sale. Its game thats all.
-
Ive been blocked out of VOG and crota this week because i was in a lobby that cheesed crota. I went to a different lobby and did the same kneeling technique. If i knew id get blocked out i wouldntve done it... but hows about a warning or something. We wait all week to try complete it and now you do this..?
-
They should fix the raid first before getting rid of the exploits. The fact that the chalice disappears or that crota enrages wayyyy to quickly is complete crap. Also it's bs that half the time crota doesn't even kneel when his shields are down.
-
Tell bungie to get off their butts and make an encounter that consistently works. Knights running through shields, swords disappearing, regenerating enemies and other inconsistencies lead to frustration on the players end. I have a very specific time frame to raid and get it done. VoG is still broken on many levels but they find time to fix sitting under the deck for the archeon priest strike. Shouldn't we have the expectation that these raid breaking mechanics not make it into final, or at the very least they are fixed in a timely manner. Destiny isn't like a typical mmo. When one thing goes wrong during a boss encounter, say like a bridge disappearing for no reason, your screwed. It becomes a waste of time.
-
listen, people shouldn't be banned for this but given a warning, the only people that deserved to be banned ate those who dupe exotics or something
-
it's no different from cheesing Atheon, templar or any other boss
-
i dont think they should get banned but they should lock out hard mode for a little longer for the people who cheese it
-
Nah. Probably do deserve to get called out for it though. The ones who don't see it as cheating though should probably be banned.
-
I liked doing it without kneeling cheese but I have no problem with it destiny shits on us with Dlc for 20$ that's barely playable besides grinding for loot in a look what I have you don't pissing contest what have they given the user for 60$. You might as we'll take any advantage you can get. I don't see Bethesda saying you get rivet city or white run then charging out the ass for everything else. Atleast borderlands gave you a 100 hrs of grinding mixed with content and the option of doing more if you wanted. Elitism is overrated
-
That link doesn't show anyone got banned. But another fyi I've seen this glitch try to be performed it literally can take more time than running the whole raid just to get it right.
-
The 53% who said No are probably the people who did it.
-
I think they need to give a warning and then start banning.
