So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

I think they need to give a warning and then start banning.
-
I'm shaking in my space boots.
-
Prohibit them from hard raid until they get a legitimate clear.
-
Unfortunately this is an issue that has spanned over several games (I know everyone remembers halo pulling the ethernet cord ). I vote no because there are several instances in which this can coincidently happen. Secondly, it would take resource allocation to resolve the issue, which would just detract the devs from fixing real issues that affect everyone. It would take some form of monitoring system that would take time to develop and resources to maintain. Long story short, the cheese is something that will be fixed in one of the upcoming patches, it's not worth the time and effort to figure out how and when to ban someone. P.s. I am strongly against the cheese and will leave a team of they attempt it. It ruins my personal gaming experience. To each, their own.
-
No because there's no way to differentiate. What if the host was Baboon'ed right when he crouched down? Then that guy would be banned for destinys fail of a server. Plus it can't be fixed without severe maintenance or breaking the raid.
-
Well I honestly think they are only cheating themselves. The raids are the only late game content that isn't a complete grindfest since it can only be completed once per week, per character. The most fun I have on Destiny is during the raids, so if people want to beat it in 15 minutes just for loot then they miss out on enjoying the actual game.
-
Why do people cheese crota, he's so easy.
-
Would give me a propper reason to stop playing this polished up turd ;)

For anyone feeling safe inside the anonymity of the masses: In 2012 Bioware banned at least 2000 people from the Multiplayer component of Mass Effect 3. This was a PvE-only, non-competitive Multiplayer and didn`t even have the large audience Destiny has atm. Bungie has a reputation that it is far more "serious" about their game-components than Bioware/EA. Source

Was there before 250
-
Bungie would have to ban 500k-1mil people, Do you really think that shit is going to happen.
-
They reserve the right to exploit any glitches in the game. They are not "breaking the game" Bungie's fault for not fixing it yet.
-
Bungie exploits us, why not? Just returning the favor
-
Didn't Deej already comment on this and say they wouldn't ban players because of coding errors that allowed these exploits? I mean, it's not like it's the crucible where you are DIRECTLY negatively influencing people's stats. (Also, I've beaten it legit, just don't care what other people are doing with their game and neither should you)
-
They would probably have to ban their whole dlc player base. And they probably won't buy the next dlc if they are banned.
-
No, it's bungie a fault they messed up.. They need to just fix it. When it comes to Crota's end their are so many cheese its funny.. I'll do it legit when I want to but I mean come on there is like 5-6 cheese I know about right now..

Edited by Ne0nK0ala: 12/22/2014 8:20:37 PMI'm just gonna put it simply, you can't ban someone for quitting a game or losing connection, simply because there's no way of knowing if was done on purpose, u will simply ban a ton of people with bad connections. Also to be honest none of the raid "glitches" are actually glitches in my mind, if you think about it they are the same code as the code that makes your sparrow fly or your gun shoot, it's all game content and there's no hacking or tweaking of the game involved, the only reason they are considered to be glitches is because Bungie doesn't like them, it's no ones fault that they didn't check their code properly.
-
I love how many people are bitch ing about this but bearly anyone complained about atheon
-
I don't honestly think a banhammer will be imposed due to the fact of the amount of outtages. Unless they are in with microsoft and sony to check its not quitting theres not much that can be done to ban people. The thing they can do is to fix the glitch to prevent the kneeling from being permanent and therefore stop the issue. But don't expect anything pronto look at how long it took to fix atheon and theres still problems after all this time
-
Damn there wouldnt be anyone left to do the raid with
-
Its the developers fault, its just a glitch not hack, if it was a hack then yeah
-
Yes. Every raid i get in on that cheezea the raid i leave. CE is easy as hell even without cheeze.
-
Is it wrong? Yes. Do any of your links prove that it is going to be ban-able offense or that the one guy that was a buddy of a friend of his actually got banned for it? No. Remember kids, just cuz you read it on the internet, doesn't make it true. Now I'm gonna get on my unicorn and fly to my space station hovering over southern Canada.
-
I said this before and I'll say it again, I'm against the cheesing but if you're gonna take this kinda stance on it make sure that you're the first to volunteer to help people fight Crota legit, because people like me with tons of raid experience (VoG and Crota, I've beat it as the sniper and sword bearer) get rejected from groups because of a lack of Ghallarhorn (RNG just won't drop it) "oh sorry we're looking for someone with a ghorn" just remember that next time you see posts from people struggling to get help to beat the last part
-
Many of us have no choice if you lfg almost everyone wants to cheese with multiple toons and even the rare groups that say they want to do it legit end up dying afew times and saying lets just cheese. For me this dlc is an utter broken mess that cant be played properly.
-
How bout they fix the glitches in VOG and CE first. I bet a lot more people wouldn't cheese if that were the case.
