So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

How bout they fix the glitches in VOG and CE first. I bet a lot more people wouldn't cheese if that were the case.
-
I wouldn't mind all gear from crotas end getting deleted, then waiting until the exploits are fixed before dropping more raid gear.
-
If Bungie actually tested and designed their end game content well they wouldn't have these problems. Did literally NO ONE think that Atheon could be pushed off? Did they not test for any errors due to internet disconnections or failures?
-
Not quite Banhammer worthy, but degraded loot or some alternative should be the a good pointer.
-
I wish they'd just fix Crota. That would make completing the raid an honor. So many people can cheese without even trying. I ENJOY playing the game the way it was meant... but some of the glitches just make things impossible. I want to beat the VOG on hard (never had a team to run it with until recently), but it glitches so often that it's unplayable. Crota will become the same way soon too I fear. I don't care who cheeses or who doesnt, but I wish it wasn't so easy and that there were less glitches so that there was reward for learning it the right way.

Edited by Cesarone Da Man: 12/22/2014 6:46:09 PMYeah, sure, it does sound like we will get banned, but does anyone honestly think they would ban that many people? I can't even imagine how many would get banned by now, let alone a week from now, or 2. They would lose way too many players
-
Pussy.
-
No, because of "peer pressure". There will always be people who can claim they had no say in how to kill crota or were ignorant to the ramifications and went with the groups decision. When the banhammer comes, you can bet there will be an uproar of this; I highly doubt Bungie is willing to go through another PR nightmare. It is their game and their glitches they need to fix. Why ban the players?
-
Mr. Torgue FTW!!!
-
No because what of it happened on accident ?
-
I admit we tried it but couldn't time it so we decided to do it legit and it felt good I think that you should be allowed to cheese but you wouldn't get either a weapon of armour I think that's fair
-
If you utilize the cheese or glitch as is and do not noted your system then I say cheese away. The terms of service for both PSN and Microsoft say that you can't physically modify the system, game disc or any other hardware you use to play the game to get an unfair advantage, but if all you are using is the flawed code of the game itself then there's no one to blame but the bungie and they will eventually fix it. Anyone who does violate the terms of service deserves to get banned. I for one say that if bungie doesn't want you to do it, they'll patch it
-
Prove it. And then still: i pay, so i decide how i play.
-
if they record and post it publicly then yes. otherwise i dont care , BUT they should get a medal aswell. for stupidity... i would understand pushing off and all that bit disconnecting on purpose.. plain stupid thing to do for a game. Gluck on hard mode if you cant do it with ur team workin on mechanics
-
If anything, Bungie testers should get fired. They're job is to test games. Lately bungie hasn't even been testing they're patches. I remember the first few patches were -blam!-ed. Why should people get banned because bungie half assed their job? Besides, I paid $60 for the game, $35 for the dlc. I can do whatever the -blam!- I want.
-
They're not playing on a modded console, they're exploiting a fault in the game which is hours by no means be punishable, it's smart. If it's a real issue the correct course of action would be to fix it, not ban people.
-
Edited by freshlydunbread: 12/22/2014 6:18:31 PMIt's against ToS to intentionally do, but Bungie and your respective service provider would not ban you for it, as it's too hard to prove exactly from where the network issue had arisen. Sure it will look odd that it seems to happen all of the time during the Crota fight, but, as I've had countless raid members suddenly DC to some stupid error code, or having the Destiny game bug out, and shut down completely. They have no way to prove intentions, unless you're writing about it all over the place. Edit: "I know a guy who got banned for this cause they said he broke ToS" isn't proof that anyone's been banned at all hah.
-
No. The glitch is bungies fault. Yes the players choose to take advantage of it. However at the end of the day I get disconnected more than a telemarketer with a stutter some night. They should fix the get issues before attacking their player base.
-
No. The whole point of holding the hard raid back was to find these bugs.
-
Lol. Your scrub poll clearly isn't going the way you want it to
-
They should not be banned as they are not modding the game or hacking but simply "abusing" game mechanics. Yes it is cheap, but everything they are doing is legal and does not infringe on terms of service.
-
I've never seen such a shotty game. Destiny is full of cheese and no matter how hard they try they can't seem to stop it. How can a developer almost always fail when it comes to patching their own game? I like Destiny, I enjoy it to a degree, but the bad parts if this game are pretty bad.
-
Well, we know where you stand with your one-sided poll.
-
Crota isn't even a hard fight but I can't wait until Bungie fixes the Crota cheese.
-
No one had been banned. You cannot ban someone for dropping from a game, and if you do try proving it was intentional.
-
I said yes even tho I'm gonna cheese the crap out of the raid solo after reset.
