So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

Crota kneelists? Did we really miss the golden opportunity to call them Crota Crouchers?
-
I would love to say that this isn't affecting my gameplay, but it is. Every single time I look for raids, they always want to cheese the -blam!-er. I am against cheesing, especially since I enjoy doing Crota legit. It's a very fun raid. Its gotten to the point that I need to put LEGIT ONLY on my posts.
-
They are retarded if they ban someone for that. Bungie cheeses me all the time with the same freaking exploit, I cant even count how many times a rogue pineapple or zebra or viper or whatever else of god's creations has killed me in the middle of a game since I started playing destiny 4 months ago. If life gives you cheese make nachos!
-
I don't really care to be honest. I mean who hasn't cheesed either raid? Personally I rather do everything legit because you'll have to learn eventually. I really only cheese if ppl in my fire team whine and cry about it. Haven't cheesed Crota though....that part seems too easy. Point being aslong as the glitches are there we will do it to make life easier. Bungie just needs to fix it
-
Nobody on Xbox will be banned because the majority of Xbox customers are American and won't put up with that shit Sony on the other hand pulled a movie out of theaters because of hacking threats Boo hoo whoever runs Sony is a twat I was looking forward to that movie
-
It doesn't bother me what others do but technically by the code of conduct standards yes they deserve to be banned. I reiterate, I'm not asking for them to be banned just stating a fact that's all
-
Tbh I don't really think it's that bad Cuz tbh crota is easy as -blam!- so the glitch just makes it faster
-
I don't cheese Crota and think people should do it the legit way, because, let's face it... This is gonna be fixed sooner or later and you'll need the experience. However, I don't think people should get banned for doing this. First of all it's not the players' fault that these glitches exist. And furthermore these glitches can also happen by pure coincidence... I mean having a warlock reviving himself isn't that much of a stretch and having the host disconnected is unfortunately also rather common due to all the network errors...
-
It isnt hard At all so i dont Understand The Need for the glitch But maybe thats because i have a Raid Team and we have a 32 (he does 70 % more damagr than a 30)
-
Instead of trying to find the players who does this and ban them, they should just fix it asap. I don't have anything against the ones who do this, and ban is a bit harsh, but it needs to be gone before the hard raid get's out, along with the other glitches.
-
You must not have the greatest teamwork skills if you can't kill Crota normally and have to result to glitching him.
-
Rage quitting is not network tampering how else do you think someone found this. And they never banned for atheon push. If they ban for this then like half of the dlc holders will get banned
-
Yes ban them all.
-
If that's the case 60% ppl that play destiny would be banned. Think twice about banning ppl. Besides this game is dead the banned ppl won't come back.
-
Lies. It's on bungie to fix it. I have done it properly, and cheesed it. I wouldn't mind a fix but I will not condemn those who use the glitch. They will not be banned. Please stop all these childish threats and insults. It is boring.
-
He's not exactly hard tho is he. It's not like it's random teleporting or anything. Dedicate everyone a role and just do your assigned role. I think there's more chance at screwing up at atheon...
-
How can they ban someone for something that occurs when being removed from the game when 70% of the game players get removed with bungies stupid error codes
-
I don't care one way or another. If people want to use this glitch then have at it, you aren't hindering my gaming experience in the slightest. I just like to point out that Bungie has a history of punishing network manipulation without warning (anyone remember the halo reach XP gain reset?, heavy ammo glitch falls into the same category of network manipulation). In all honesty, the thought of that is enough for me to shy away. Also, to the people suggesting this is similar to pushing the Templar/Atheon off the edge, you're wrong. Those two instances involved use of in game mechanics to beat a boss in an unconventional way. The Crota "cheese" is manipulating the network causing a lag spike when the host disconnects. The only similarity between the two is that they make the fight easier when done correctly.
-
Until Bungie sort out the Raid issues, people will, and shouldn't be punished for cheese. Ive lost count of the times I've wiped in VOG due to bugs and the connection issues that seem to plague the game generally. Until the Raids are 'fair', in other words people are not being robbed by bugs and disconnects, I'd say cheesing is fair game.
-
Where does it say they got banned for cheesing all I seen was someone has already been banned
-
Edited by tombok90: 12/22/2014 7:40:45 AMNo, but bungie should place a semi permanent emblem shader on them. Emblem has a mouse and block of cheese, shader makes them look like cheese. That way true raiders can spot them and not carry them through the raid. They can remove the emblem by sharding an icebreaker or gjallarhorn. Or by defeating tge raid legit.
-
funny that players can get banned for cheesing when bungie can give legendary engrams for nightfall that turn into 2 ascendent materials. cheese all u like.
-
I mean my team owns the raids easily so there's no need for me to do so...other people shouldn't be banned because well....they don't give us any clues how to beat it it's up to us to figure a way...they figured out a way. The fact they screw with the Internet or servers or w.e does put the question to be banned or punished but in my opinion it's a Bungie problem not the players so they shouldn't be banned that's my opinion though.

They should be banned but they won't be because bungie knows how much people they would loose because almost every team are cheesing -_- if you still want to run the raid legit just join redeyes clann No cheesers what ever there called lol
