So this Thread clearly explains why the Networkglitch is in a whole other class than all the glitches/cheesing that did go on in the vault:

FYI: At least three persons already got banned

Inb4 Banhammer
EDIT: For all the Naysayers that say Bungie/sony couldn`t possibly distinguish between a random and a deliberate DC.
1.Lets just assume that there is a time-window of 5 seconds around the point where Crota kneels down to dc on purpose and use the glitch.
2.Let`s further assume that on average the ServiceProviers are reachable for 90% of the time (It`s actually more like 98%, but we will be very generous)
3.Since Crota has been “beaten” more than 160.000 times and a Raidteam consists of 6 people we will say: There are at least 1 Million chances to draw a disconnect during 2 hours (an average Raid takes this time). If we take the 10% from above we can say: 100,000 disconnects happened during all successful Crotaraids up to this point.
So what is the probability that A DC happens randomly at the exact same time Crota goes down?
Calculation:
2*3600/5 = 1440:= potential 5 second-time units of one single player during a successful raid
1,440,000,000= for all players
Ergo
The probability that a DC happens randomly at the moment where crota goes down for any Player is
100,000/1,440,000,000 = 6,94e -5
And for the special case that this DC concerns the Host:
1,16e -5
For comparison:
The Probability of getting a Royal Flush in Poker: 2,57 e-5
Another Hopebubble busted by Math, sorry for that
EDIT 2: I will also link to a prominent youtuber (Datto) that has the same opinion as the vocal group of "It`s a cheat not a chesse" on this forum. Since he works closely with bungie you can be sure that in one way or the other Glitchers will soon befall a special "Destiny":

EDIT 3: This is how a big banwave looked in Halo:Reach (2010) courtesy of Bungie
Good evening,
We are in the process of applying credit resets to approximately 15,000 users who we have identified as the most egregious Challenge Reset abusers.
A one day credit earning ban has also been applied, mostly to ensure that recipients receive an in-game notification of the action taken.
As with any such measure, we have taken the time to carefully select our criteria to eliminate false positives.
A more comprehensive pass will be occurring in the coming week as our automated Banhammer mechanisms grow accurate enough to satisfy our high bar for burden of proof. If you are thinking about getting an easy 50k credits by using this exploit, I would strongly advise you to reconsider.
Thank you, and please direct any discussion of these resets to this thread.
Edit 1: a point of clarification. No bans were handed out tonight for
a) Playing too much Gruntpocalypse (no such thing!)
b) Using the target locator too much (no such thing!)
Specifically, we targeted an exploit that allowed players to complete a Challenge 20+ times via intentional network manipulation (i.e., disconnects.)
Spot checks have revealed the telltale signature of this behavior on every denier so far, so don't be fooled by the protests of innocence. We aren't.
Edit 2:
1) If you have lost your Legendary Helmet or any other downloadable offers, you can re-download them via your Download History. We're not sure this is affecting anyone (we haven't reproduced it internally), but just in case it is, give this a try.
2) We won't be resetting Commendations, as we do not feel that the exploit used affected them. It would not be fair to people who did use the exploit but who wish to retain the record of their playstyle, and we cannot differentiate between the two systematically. Sorry.

Cheaters, be wary of the Credit Reset!
EDIT 4: Cheaters have officially gotten a Carte Blanche from a Studio that is a shadow of its former self
Bungie does not kick ass any more. I was a fool and the cheaters have taken over.
I will now make a thread to suggest to ban anyone in the future that tries to make a thread about banning someone.
Bungie clearly voted for the quick buck.
I hope they will live happily ever after with you and your kind.
Signing out ;-)

Yes cheeser deserve a ban, not a permaban, not even a long ban maybe a few days. But mostly Bungie needs to fix its -blam!-ing shit, cheesers wouldn't exist if Bungie's devs spent time finding these glitches. I mean honestly if the players can find them day 1 how the -blam!- can the devs not during the test phases of the raid?
-
Yes, ban them permanently from all video games, and cut off at least 2 random fingers. They devalue everything for legitimate players. In an ideal world, it would be as difficult for a cheeser to find employment as it is now for a felon or someone dishonorably discharged from a military service. Repeat offenders should be executed, publicly. I am not joking.
-
Were atheon pushers banned? were templar pushers banned? No and No this is no different
-
Nah, you shouldn't get banned for DCing during the Crota fight. While it's not fair to people who do it legitimately, it's also not fair to ban users for something so minuscule.
-
They will probably just remove all the gear every one has gotten
-
Damn... People are taking this shit to a whole new level. It's a video game, it's not that serious lol.

Edited by XxLoSt ReApErxX: 1/6/2015 6:15:14 AMAll my buddies and me pretty much decided if they ban something so stupid well ditch destiny and get dying light or some shit at the end of the month
-
Proof people were banned or gtfo.
-
Edited by InsaneLemur: 1/5/2015 7:18:33 PMThere is a lot of math there but it only deals in probability. There is no way to tell the difference between a legit disconnect and a cord being pulled. I doubt they will ban because of the large number of users that have used the exploit. It is more likely that they will put in a check for disconnects and have Crota immediately stand up if it happens.
-
3 guys have been banned? out of millions? now im definitely gonna stop cheesing crota... >____>
-
Edited by Mikhaila StS: 1/5/2015 7:01:58 PMSo bungie knows they have a problem with this new DLC raid since the first week they got it... and they have continuously not fixed the problem...and that makes you mad that people use this to go through the raid? Do you know how many hours it takes to find these things out? It's like all the easter eggs in games that people find because they go explore and look into every nook and cranny of this game. You should be mad at bungie for not fixing their mistake, not the people that play this game.
-
No, shame on Bungie for not making sure their so called end-game content is not cheat proof. They have got to be the laziest group of AAA devs I've seen in a long time, I'm not knocking them just stating a fact. All of these cheats have been used in some way before and instead of adding them to a list for their QA team they just release all the content carelessly. It's quite pathetic to be honest, just saying.
-
We are Crota nihilists, we believe in nothing!
-
So, no one was banned....
-
There isn't a point of pushing him. Beating him legit is just as fast and easier anyways.
-
Did people get banned for pushing atheon or templar off? No so the answer is no.
-
No bungie should test their products
-
No, My Reason is man Bungie got a shitty connection I got kick out of Night Fall and Weekly due to network error from bungie. doing 1 Vog Raids from 8pm to 6am in the morning and all I got was shards. Seriously I'm not a good player, I know that but I like to collect kewl items so that why still bite my tough and keep going through all the freaking raid. So hey if the code is in bungie that they can't handle the disconnection time then hey that your problem not us. We play the game and if their away to beat it fast I would love to do it. But I did beat Crota with out any cheats and is a pain in the ass but I do feel good. But that good feeling feel shitty after I get is shards ... lol ... so my statement is a NO NO NO NO NO
-
No, and here's my reasoning. Do you know how many times I've been on a boss in a strike, weekly heroic or nightfall and got one of Bungie's infamous zooligical error codes?? Me niether because they've happened way more than they should. I've beat Crota legit, but I'm sorry, when I can take back some of my hard earned, wasted time from a random disconnect...I sure as hell will!!! Last week, had the Nexus at about 10%, weaseled!! Arkon priest on ROC, anteater!! And many others!! Fix your game and until then...cheddar baby!!!
-
They literally can't be ban players for their own incompetence. If they didn't want the game to be exploited either a) release a game that works b) fix the problem that they know is broken A ban for playing the game a different way than intended is just retarded.
-
Simple answer.... Halo:Reach was a game Bungie cared about. It was a game that had a great community that gave constructive feedback and improved the game together, rather then fighting each other all the time. They made the cash this time around. They don't care anymore.
-
Lol it don't take 2 hrs to beat the raid maybe with a pug or when it first came out... my team and I do it in a hour without cheese
-
I don't think the glitch is worthy of a permaban, but it is true that it's breaking the game mechanics. I personally think it should be a tempban that comes with a warning. I may be part of the minority when I say this, but unless Crota drops armor, I'll be scrapping anything I get from him if I happen to be in a kneeling group from here on in. Say what you want, but that's what I'm gonna do.
-
I doubt there will be a ban just some snarky comment in the patch notes. The only people I have seen banned have modded consoles.
-
Deserve is a strong word
-
You have to think about this, how hard it is anymore to find a group who will do it legit? I get invited all the time for raid. But when I hear the word cheese or see them doing the cheese, I just sit down out of danger and watch because I'm sick of it
