Dear Christmas Noob.
On behalf all guardians I welcome you to destiny. Today marks your first step in fighting the darkness and protecting the traveller.! But how do you go about this? Well first things first, you need to pick a class.
What represents you best?
A Titan: a badass that can pop a protective bubble shield making himself nearly invincible inside & being able to ground pound surfaces leaving shockwaves killing anything inside it.
A Hunter: the badass invisible assassin like class with a cloak and a golden pistol that will one hit kill most things when It hits it's target or maybe you prefer the more direct approach in running around with a dagger taking a massive damage reduction and slicing your enemies as they tremble in fear (besides shotgun users).
A Warlock: Space Magic, nuff said. Wanna hurl a massive energy ball at someone and watch them explode into nothingness Or better yet three energy balls that will wipe from existance anything in their path? How about having a force punch that one hit kills while being all majestic and shit, sporting wings of fire and being able to revive yourself at any given time.
You have 3 choices and one may suit your playstyle so give them all a shot and carry on with the one that feels right for you! So what next?
Know your enemy!
Now there are many types of enemies in destiny, some will cause you grief & others will prove no match, BUT.... There is one enemy that you will never beat.. He goes by the name 'Master Rahool'.
Who is this Master Rahool you speak of sir? Well in glad you asked! This guy, this awoken, this Cryptarch, this A**hole is the bane of destiny and the very reason of why we can't have nice things. You see, there was a time 3 months ago when all the guardians used to visit a mystical place only told in legends these days known as the loot cave. The young guardians who weren't so lucky to get in the good books with RNGesus (more on this a**hat shortly) would convene here and shoot in the cave every 5-7 seconds at endless hive mobs that would drop the precious engrams & Sometimes there would be blue, and very rarely purple.
When the guardians had their sack full of engrams, they would return to Master Rahool and see what goodies they received. This is where it gets a little depressing, the purple engrams would somtimes turn into blue or green class items and blue turn into green. Luckily you don't have to experience this young one but just know that this man is your worst enemy and as such, should be shown no act of kindness (unless you somehow manage to get the praxic fire from and engram, then Praise the Sun!).
Now yes, we've come to this part. The one about your ghost..
Ghost, aka dinklebot, aka peter dinklidge, is your run of the mill door opener.. Yes that's right, the first mission, the things you did on it like take him her, let him scan this, kill things, scan another thing, kill the boss... Yeah that is all you'll be doing throughout your missions to Earth, The Moon, Venus & Mars. Now we could as the speaker as to why his only function is to open doors but we all know what he would say, "I could tell you, but I won't". Yes my new little friends, the reason why the fallen are on earth, the reason why the traveller is so hurt, the reason why the vex exist.. None of this information will be in the games but on the bungie site in the form of Grimmore cards which you will need to find, either by killing the enemies or finding the dead ghost.
Who is this person that only appears every weekend?
Well little light, his name is xür. Just like Master Rahool, xur can be kind of an a**hole (mainly to warlocks.. Praxic fire..) but is a source to your weekly exotics. What is an exotic? An exotic is an item which is Orange class and are the best items you will be able to claim for your own in the game. On a weekly basis you will find xur somewhere around the tower sporting a exotic weapon, 1 piece of random armor for each class & a exotic engram. Buying these can help you tremendously and having an exotic weapon is a must for all new guardians! But remember, you can only have 1 exotic weapon equipped and 1 piece of armor on at a time.
How do I buy from xur?
Through sheer determination and facing a challenge that you will not be ready for Untill you beat RNGesus and acquiring great gear, you will be able to participate in a weekly heroic strike! Now this is no Normal strike young one. This holds the heroic modifier from hard story missions and a random one that can make it easier for you or more challenging! It's best to come back here and find some fellow guardians to help you fight your way through and come out a champion. Doing so will earn you a currency known as strange coins which are needed to buy from xur! You will need motes of light which you will earn by leveling up after you hit level 20 to buy the engram.
Im level 20 but I can't level up anymore?
Ahhh yes young one, a problem we all faced back in the day. When you make it to level 20 you will need to start looking for gear which have a bonus on them known as Light. Your job now is to find gear and raise the light level to increase your current level so if you upgrade a chest to 21 light but find one that has 23, equip the 23 light as you will get higher in level (always choose the higher light rating armor).
