So this is going to be a long post and sort of a whole recap and overview of what I have concluded from this past day. I suggest you read this if you are also like me and are waiting for the servers to come back online. STARTING OFF: As a PS owner since the original playstation you come to get use to Sony taking their sweet ass time. When PSN was hacked a couple years ago it really came to show what type of company they are, and like every other company, all about the money. And this recent attack only goes to prove it. BEFORE THE HACK: The one thing I don't get is that these companies knew it was coming. It had been all over the internet for weeks that attacks were coming Christmas day and what BLOWS MY MIND is that PSN started going down on Christmas Eve! And that one was only a small attack! Sure its not technically "hacking" it's DDOSSING but as a billion dollar corporation you think they could of done something and had better preparation. THE HACK ITSELF: Now as my brother got his own PS4 I was really going to enjoy Christmas and the day helping him set it up until I look on twitter and realize that Lizard Squad actually followed through. But as this attack became recent and the whole "Finest Squad" thing came to light I realized this was a lot more complex than what I originally thought. MY BREAKDOWN: So it was a hack war right? Eh kinda. Lizard Squad ended up winning and DDoosed the hell out of both networks up until the late afternoon. At first we thought it was Finest Squad who had stopped them, until King Dot Com ended up bargaining a deal with the squad which stopped the attacks and future ones. Now I do believe Finest was working hard as they were tweeting out that the servers were coming back online which I believe they WERE due to some users being let back on, but Sony quickly turned them off to now repair the network. As for Microsoft did the same but in a way that, for the players, enjoy more, in letting limited functionality on Xbox Live work. LIZARD SQUADS INTENTS: What was Lizard squads REAL goal? You may be blaming it all on them but they aren't the true villain. Yes they did commit a crime and I do believe for myself they deserve a severe punishment. Early on, on Christmas day, you were probably blaming them for the attack and as that is reasonable, I think we really should be questioning the intents of Sony and Microsoft and what kind of security they have. You see all Lizard Squad wanted to do was get the community to realize how bad and easy these companies servers are. Or where they are putting their money and what better day to show that then the day when everyone gets new games and consoles. But the real other reason was simple, Lizard Squad whether you want to believe it or not did it for themselves in what I believe a job opportunity. For a company to see that some 16-25 year old kid has more skill then the entire PSN or Xbox Live work force. Self fame and to show us consumers where the real money is going. Thats why Lizard Squad initiated the hacks. Now none of this is true this is just what I see from their tweets and the latest interview with them on BBC. WHEN PSN WILL BE BACK: Honestly If it does not come back tomorrow then PSN will be out around 1-3 weeks honestly. There isn't a real timetable. I believe this because Lizard Squad themselves said they may have even fried their entire DNS servers which if that is true means Sony has to completely rebuild them resulting in a long down time and with the way things have been looking I don't see a quick bounce back. Also with the way there has been no real feedback from them theirselves on their Ask Playstation twitter and media in general it looks very similar to the infamous PSN hack years back. All I can say is that right now Sony are ones choosing to keep us offline and basically rebuilding the servers. I do not know how long it will take but as I see the "engineers" there like to take a log time, I believe in Lizard Squad that they could fix it faster then Sony themselves. WRAPPING UP: I am like all of you, waiting to get back on Destiny but as a PS4 user I don't see it happening anytime soon. Sony is rebuilding, taking forever, and lizard squad ended up being right. They are to blame but don't forget about the people what let it happen. I know this was kind of long and I hoped you read completely through.
