I was convinced 2 give anime a try. I don't watch anime because it seems to be very soap opera-ish/raunchy .. with that said, what do you suggest? Only thing i can say is I enjoy a well written story.
Update: started watching death note... way better than expected.

Cowboy bebop, trigun, Samurai Champloo, Code Geass, Evangelion?, Monster, Sword art Online (HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAA! Oh that's adorable.), Akame Ga Kill, Fruit of Grisaia, Parasyte - The maxim, Log Horizon (It's like SAO only good.), Durara (If that's how you even spell it), Baccano! (Awesome. That is all.), Chaika -The coffin princess, and..... That's all I've got off the top of my head. Some of these are brilliant, some of these are entertainingly shit. Pick and choose as you wish.

The only Anime's I've watched are: Full Metal Alchemist (and FMA Brotherhood). Wolfs Rain. and Sword Art Online (1st and 2nd season only). Out of these three, I'd say FMA Brotherhood. .... ... .. . -ShadowWolf

It'll take a while to find what type of anime you REALLY love. I can watch comedy, romance, ecchi, sports, drama, school. & whatnot, but anything with magic, quests, swords, bows, monsters, comedy, lil romance, I'm 100% in.

The main anime people will recommend due to popularity will be DBZ, Naruto, Attack on Titan, One Piece, Fairy Tail, Tokyo Ghoul, Sword Art Online, or maybe Mirai Nikki. Once you watch a few other anime that aren't so popular, you'll start to really love anime for its many choices.

Edited by Demagogue: 12/27/2014 7:56:39 AMAnything by Studio Ghibli is probably a good start. They're all movies, so you can sample the medium without dumping a ton of time into it. No matter what everyone else says, don't watch Sword Art Online. Not for your first tasting at least. What western shows/movies are you into?

Edited by Marqo Loqo2574: 12/27/2014 7:48:28 AMpsycho-pass is really good. a well written sci fi story. its also quite psychological and philosophical. fairly realistic, not a lot of the crazy over the top action or melodrama
