Its literally impossible for cross gen gaming because the ps4 servers are on a differnet network than ps3 servers, the same reason cross platform gaming isnt a thing (psn & xbox live)

Exactly, all PC clients are allowed to connect. Regardless of the hardware or the network they come from..... The only reason consoles don't allow this is for money. What you're saying would mean that youtube had to be on Microsoft's network in order to connect to it, any website for that matter.

Also consoles do have a lot of limitations that pc doesnt have, not everything a company does is for the sole purpose of money

If from the beginning they developed a server application that excepted all clients this game would be cross platform/generation. In the 90s anyone could run a quake 1 server anywhere in the world and any client (windows/Linux/Mac) could connect to it. I did this when I was 13... It's not a part of this game because they made a conscious decision not to include it. It is however completely possible, I played against Dreamcast players on my PC back in the day.

Not trying to be an ass but from my understanding you would need an emulator for the pc and you would need to jailbreak a console to do that

Not trying to be an ass either, but I would recommend you do some research into TCP/IP and computer hardware. The only differentiating factor between the consoles besides hardware (which does not matter), is operating system. This what separates a console from PC or a phone.. Etc... If something is developed with cross platform in mind then it's entirely up to the developer what systems they want to include. Generally consoles don't allow this because of the constant competition between them. I believe Microsoft tested this with halo but canceled it after seeing the huge advantage PC players (mouse/keyboard) had over controller users.

Different networks can connect to eachother but not the servers, thats why computers can be on on differnet networks (internet providers) but can connect to networks like steam to play with other people
