I agree with your observations as well.
If ActiBungie keeps heading down this same road then Destiny 2 will be a no-buy for me, regardless of whether or not I get to carry over my character.

I don't know how the carry over character option would make me want to continue onto the next game lol.. Maybe then we would get custom looks and could change our appearance. Wishful thinking.
