On vita remote play emotes are handled slightly differently. You hold down left on the dpad and then press other buttons to do emotes. I think they should utilise this system in the main game instead of sitting holding the dpad down puts you in emote mode. Then pressing the other buttons gives you access to more emotes. Eg Thanks, Hi, well done, over here, no, i love you, look at my gun! Etc. :)
