With the latest dlc focusing on the hive i have become intrigued by the origin of these aliens. I know people usually say that the story in destiny is found in the grimore so began to read it but for the life of me i cannot find where the hive come from. All i found was exposition, and not much of it. So i ask the community because i am human and might have missed it.
Where do the hive come from? Is there a homeworld? Is there a history? Was there a war for the moon? Who fought in it? Did we just concede peacefully?
I have similar questions about the other alien races but I'm begining to think the reason we don't feel like were immersed in a rich world full of history is because there is no lore.

My friends and I have made beyter stories than destiny

No story. Activision killed it with their monies

Answer to your question: not really
-
You are a dead guy reanimated in order to kill the enemies of the traveller & to find out who the hell that stranger is.
-
Ya, you're a ruthless guardian going to other planets and killing their leaders and for the hell of it you patrol their planets killing more leaders or civilians and stealing their loot they're trying to hide around the planet
Where do the hive come from? Is there a homeworld? Is there a history? Was there a war for the moon? Who fought in it? Did we just concede peacefully?
You know what? Who cares? It's literally only a video game and knowing the lore of it isn't going to improve your life any more than if it doesn't. Just play to have fun and if you're not having fun, stop playing

Yes there is a story, but it's not a complete one. Like an episode of Lost, Destiny provides more questions than answers. And what you are talking about is lore, not story. The story in Destiny involves investigating Hive activity and thwarting their plan to weaken the traveller. The second part has you answer the stranger's call on Venus to learn about the danger of the Vex which eventually leads you to the Black Garden on Mars. The story is mainly told, rather poorly on my opinion, in the loading screens so it's easy to miss.

There is a story, almost everyone on here seems to think otherwise but there deffinatly is a story! Its only the beginning of one at the moment but the problem is most people want all the answers in the first volume! Great story telling leaves you guessing and asking questions all the time. If it jumped straight to the answers what would be the point, know one would like it. I never played Halo myself, but apparently the story in the first game wasn't much either, but look how that turned out. Everyone just needs to have some patience, after all this is a 10 year project, my guess is we won't have all the answers for a long time yet.

No there is no story. There is a base for a possible good story but they blew it and it just sucks. Fun to play at least

The story in Destiny is you grind and make your own story.
