Vault of Glass Templar Fight - Relic

First of all, I want to say that I am not the best but neither the worst player. I am primarily a PvP player but I can hold my own in a PvE scenario. I have a lot of fun using the relic and the sword in the Vault of Glass and Crota's End respectively. However, I have not used the relic while battling Templar, so I asked my friends if I can give it a try. I was horrified by the detained bubbles. I tried numerous times to escape them. I tried holding the crosshairs up because I thought the game didn't hit the bubble becaasue I wasn't aiming at it. That wasn't the case. I tried hitting it with both accessible moves(R1 and R2). R2 doesn't work. R1 just shoots me out of the bubble and I have to carry myself to the bubble in order to hit it again. If i can't get there in time, "Suppression Field". Now let's talk about the Oracles. We all know the oracles spawn during the Templar fight. Not all fireteam members want to pay attentiion to them or maybe they can't shoot them because they may die if they get out of cover. With that in mind, the relic holder should be able to kill the oracles. You may think, ah this is so simple. It's not. Same as with the detained bubbles. It just doesn't recognize me hitting the oracles. Had to wipe a few times because of this. I would appreciate if you could help me with some tips even though the new raid is out and all of the attention is focused towards Crota's End.

i'm assuming R1 and R2 are the weak and strong relic attacks respectively, yes? if so, i've seen the tap-jump-then-R2 thing already mentioned for getting out of the detain bubble but that's never worked for me, pretty sure it's R2 i use in one direction and then immediately back the other way, whichever one launches you from side to side. it leaves you mostly inside the bubble and breaks you free without the suppression field killing you. also, i like to work with a team watching out for oracles, not one ignoring them and just cleansing afterward. when an oracle pops, whoever's closest kills it, whether it's the relicholder or someone else on the team. i haven't yet had a problem with the oracles registering my hits as relicholder but like most of the Vault's glitchy behavior, it could probably be solved by a quick trip back to orbit. i'd be more careful about accidentally launching yourself off the side of the platform while trying to nail an oracle, lol -- pretty sure i had that happen to me with the far right or right middle oracles at least once. whoops.

  • This happens to me as well, if it's not registering hit on oracles just go to orbit and go back in should fix your problem.

The two oracles you should talking care of are the two at the back, left and right of where you picked relic up, and in an emergency the one on the left (from the rest of your teams PoV) if the Templar moves in front of it. The rest is timing the super just after the oracles go down

  • Tap jump then RB or R2 to slam, works every time for me! You jut have to slam as soon as you jump!

    • Detain bubbles. I always RT (Xbox) in a direction then if it doesn't destroy the detain then RT in opposite direction and it should destroy it. With the oracles I use to jump up and RT the ground and it destroyed it in 1 hit but that hasn't seemed to be working lately so I just stand back a little bit from the oracle and RB it then back up again and RB it. Should take 3 RBs

      • For detain bubbles ground slam should work. If your quick (like VERY quick) you can jump+R2 and you'll insta-slam without jumping. I'm not 100% sure but I've heard you can drop the relic and shoot. The key is that so long as you (and you alone) pick it back up you won't loose it's charge.

      • Stand back 4-5 feet when destroying oracles so you hit it at the end of your lunge. Or you can always jump above them and smash them. As for the bubble... It's very inconsistent. Sometimes I can just ground slam it away and sometime I have to hit it a couple times before a hit registers. Worst case is just let someone shoot it off of you when he teleports away (since you would most likely not be needed for damaging the boss after you take his shields down).

      • This is a glitch in the game sometimes when you pick up the relic it doesn't work against oracles or the detain bubble there is no way to stop it. Sometimes there is a glitch where you get out of the bubble but can't hit the oracle's. If that happens it's about lining up perfectly with the Oracle and pressing R2. However these are just glitches most of the time you have no trouble with either the bubble or the oracles
