Figured I'd make this thread to help out people struggling with the Thorn Exotic Bounty. The bounty consists of 4 main stages that get increasingly harder. Stage one: Complete the moon strike; summoning pits. Easy enough, just do the level 12 strike on the moon. Stage 2: Earn 500 points from killing hive on the moon. Easiest way I found to do this is to load up the level 11 heroic Sword of Crota mission. It has tonnes of 'major' rank enemies that give 20 points per kill. I finished this stage in 3 matches which took around 30 minutes in total. Stage 3: This is the grinding stage; get 500 points in Crucible by killing enemies with Void damage. In this stage you will earn 5 points per kill (with void damage) but you will lose 2 points per death! I found that control was the easiest game mode to play in because you know roughly where the enemy will be. See a base getting captured? Try and plan a strategic way of getting the kills. Don't get annoyed when you die, just think that your still progressing through this stage, albeit a bit slower. I used my warlocks Voidwalker class for this with a rare void fusion rifle and Truth (best damn rocket launcher IMO). Stage 4: This is the hard part. A special Summoning Pits strike will open up at level 26 containing a wizard boss called Xyor the unwed. She will appear after the third tombship arrives during the fight with the main boss. [u]DO NOT[/u] under any circumstances kill the man boss until Xyor is dead! This section of the bounty will require you to find 2 more people to help you, it won't randomly select people in the strike lobby. Finally, after all this is done, take your bounty to the speaker and exchange a mote of light for your shiny new Thorn Hand Cannon! Hope this guide helps!
