Levels 24-26 are stopping point. Make sure u make 3 characters. From there you play strikes or daily events to max your marks. Do bounties to level your faction up. By leveling the factions you will earn commendations. You also have to level your factions to even buy the gear. The best way to level your weapons and armor is by doing bounties.
