Your friend did it solo but you need RNG to get the raid gear then level it and it depends on the player and if they can use the class correctly. I bet if there was a solo statistic maybe 100 people did it solo. There's 7+ million people who've played this game.
That's like a millionaire saying "I can afford this mansions and you should be able to as well. NO EXCUSES!"

The point is that you don't need 6 people.

True but for every player you remove the remaining team needs to be better than the average. I still meet "veterans" in the VoG who can't complete the confluxes.
