Very well said. The only thing I would add is that the story, as released in the final game, is so disjointed and uninspired, and such a step down from Bungie's other work, that it makes the game's grind that much more intolerable. Truly, just look around the tower for a bit at the sad and boring NPCs. If that is what remains of humanity, the grind just isn't worth it.

  • Indeed. One thing I still remember very clearly in my head, is how well written all of the Halo stories were. My favorite was/is Reach. I could go back and play through that main campaign again and again. It was that well written, that I just couldn't get enough of it. That doesn't exist with Destiny. I understand that you don't want to reveal everything in the first game, but even enigma's can be written with a certain flow and tell a great story while not giving everything away. Poe and Lovecraft did it all the time, and numerous modern Sci-fi authors do it very well. Look at Frank Herbert's "Dune" series. Written in that style, Destiny would have a story that would keep Gamers riveted and on the edge of their seats, begging for more. But what we got is a broken mess of story that isn't really even fit to be on the back of a cereal box... actually, I think you guys got the idea for the Grimoire from reading cereal boxes during your breakfast. Someone saw little "collectible" cut-out cards on the back of a box of Captain Crunch and thought, "Hey, if we did a digital version of this...". The story definitely needs tons of love and attention, and I dare say; a rewrite. But as it stands, there's nothing in the story that doesn't make me grimace as I go through it.
