I had an idea, and i'm sure I'm not the first, but i'm going to throw it out there. The emoticons for the d-pad are great (who doesn't love dancing), but I think that the d-pad is under-utilized.
My idea is this: When you have your ghost out (clicking the touch pad for PS4), it would be great if the d-pad worked as hotkeys. When your ghost is out: The up arrow switches between primaries, the left arrow switches special, down is heavy, and the right arrow could be hotkeyed to consumables (like ammo synths), it would save having to go into the character screen when things are going on.
I'm curious what everyone else thinks about this.
[Edit]
Thanks for all the responses, everyone! There are some good ideas and additions to this being thrown out there. Keep them coming!

Overall I agree. The d-pad should be used for switching weapons within classes without hitting start and changing them at the least. If you had the capability of assigning the hot-keys yourself to what you want, even better. Using the d-pad for switching weapons and using ammo synthesis would be huge.

Well... I have a broken mic so I use these things as a way to communicate. I.e. Waving for yes.. Or pointing for no. Sitting in spots that need to be covered during raids. I use the effectively to communicate with friends and others. I'd prefer them not to be removed.
-
Bump, The only emote I use is point and it's rarely effective

Edited by ZEN: 1/21/2015 3:16:01 PMI like waving, dancing, sitting and pointing. NO MATTER WHAT MY GHOST IS DOING WAVE4lyf
-
I'd personally like .... Dpad down = switch sub class Dpad right = switch primary Dpad left = switch secondary Dpad up = switch heavy I'd also like an on screen synth timer with an audible beep when it can be 're used.

I don't think you should have to get your ghost out. But I think you should be able to assign items.
-
I'm sure Bungie will buff the emotes real soon. Press and hold Dpad to wave faster, dance faster, point with both hands and sit-ups. May even add a secret combo to add push-ups or imitating a mime. Sure it will be mind blowing and game changing. OR Emotes now can only be done on DestinyEmotes.org with Safari. IE support will be added next year after exclusively deal expires with Apple. Seriously I would like to assign weapons and armor load outs to fit how I want to play at any given time. Also want ammo penalty removed during PvE.

Bump eazy ammo whit no loading when you need it. The 5 min CD must stay.
-
The game needs this...badly

Why switch to the d-pad the large button is a touchpad you can use to select items. Utilize the tech in the controller is some new way. Leave the d-pad for the last gen consoles. New tech deserves new ideas.

I like it. Good idea.

hell yes!!!!

Agree 100%. I've thought about this before and it works great with borderlands. It's annoying having to go to your inventory screen to simply equip another weapon

-
not even through the ghost, let me assign it straight to the dpad, going to the menu to use consumables is ridiculous

Like it

Why would you use the d-pad to switch when triangle handles that pretty well already?(unless you mean like swap your primary with a different primary) I think they should be used for consumables mainly and someone said switch subclass which sounded neat. Also maybe have one bring up your bounties or something.

To be honest, I dont need the emotes at all.. dance moves look stupid and 'xx points' or 'yy waves' are pointless, useless totally crap. Most of the time I see these emotes, I wonder where this guy is pointing at and who/where IS he in the first place?!? What I'd like to see on the dpad - L quick access to ammo synth ammo submenu with left/up/right = ammo type and down = back - U quick target marker for focus fire: UP like in several other mmo. The 'left' minotaur depends on the position you look at them.... target marker would be awesome - R optional : quick access for one or two additional weapon loadouts. It is always a hassle when you want to change between gjallarhorn and icebreaker or any other exotics in different slots... - D emote menu like above for those who cant live without stupid dance moves... again markers would be nice to maybe mark chest positions. Sure, there is voice chat for targets, chests and so on, but I dont know what you do, but I dont voice with every single random strike stranger who maybe doesnt even have a headset connected and/or doesnt speak german/english..

Yeah and you could do touch motions on the pad for the emoticons
-
Bump again.... A la Gears of war.
-
I agree. Especially since the Xbox 360 menu takes ages to load
