[You guys came up with so many great ideas. I really wish Bungie had a look at the comments here.]
Come on, Bungie, give us the freedom to choose whatever suits our style best and don't let those awesome weapons you've designed become obsolete. Actually, don't let the stunning Vault of Glass (best content in the game) be consumed by the darkness.
I believe that Raids and its weapons should always be the at level cap. More weapons to choose from, more content to play.
Weapons are mostly situational and mixing them is part of a successful strategy (it's fun too). Having more to choose from just add to the game.
Edit: I'm not suggesting to automatically turn them into 331 attack weapons. Just give us a way to upgrade them to the current attack cap. I bet you guys can implement it in a sensible way.
Why would we go against the idea of having more relevant weapons at our disposal? It's like saying "I'd rather have less weapons, less content". Let's not be passively attached to an old format. Destiny is something new with immense potential.

Some great comments Bungie should pay some attention to:

"But what they decide to do with VOG weapons speaks to the future of the current raid weapons as well. Right now, there is an expiration date on my Fatebringer and that sucks, supremely, but now that same feeling isn't too far for my Black Hammer either. I'd like to carry these weapons with me as long as I am playing Destiny. Yeah, future weapons maybe better and I end up scraping these guns one day but I'd like to be able to decide for myself versus having no choice in the matter. Just my take on the situation".

"The problem lies within the way they have designed the upgrading system. They are going to have to re work how you upgrade weapons and armor. Yeah they could just update the VOC gear up to 32 and 331 but what happens when the House of Wolves comes out? Then they are going to have to update both Dark Below and VOC all over again the prevent them from being obsolete. They need to just make it were the players can choose the path they want to take. You choose what armor and weapons you want to upgrade to the highest rank. I mean make it a difficult task. I wouldn't mind the challenge and it would inspire players to be more creative with their characters rather than every single person wearing the same gear".

"Upgrading older legendary weapons could finally give a use for the Gunsmith beyond buying ammo and weapons at a low level. Not to mention it would help provide a larger variety of "good" weapons so that we would have more things to work towards. After all the various DLC's are done, just imagine how varied the weapon and armor selection would be. (Speaking of which, vendors should be able to upgrade armor as well.)"

Shouldn't be 331 IMO, but the primaries should go over 300 as they are from the hard mode.

Edited by XsirMajesticX: 1/6/2015 8:26:27 PMits what these kind of games are everyone. just stop this. new content mean old content becomes obsolete, it is what it is. new gear replaces old gear, its a natural progression. its not cod, neither is it WoW. those old raid weapons are tied to VoG these are ties to Crota and so forth. and for those crying about my hard earned gear, how hard is it to play for a few hours and get it, its a freaking game not real life, so what if its retired every 3 months

Signed. Boost those bitches up!

Making guns irrelevant via damage, is a great way for the developers to nullify a gun they felt was OP, without having to "nerf" them. It's in their best interest to make people move on, so they can keep evolving the gun assortments that are out there. I seriously doubt they'll allow anything but exotics to be upgraded.

Bump. I'll sign on

*cough cough Level 32 CE HM Raid cough cough* but seriously...i put in over 100 hours into VoG (at least). The least someone at Bungie can do is make my time worth the investment.

Seeing as I just deleted 1 of my 3 fatebringers since I have no space left on 3 characters and a full vault, I'm going to be wishing I hadn't got rid of it if I"m eventually able to upgrade it. It is my favorite gun in the game, but at least I still have 2 of them maxed out. Just figured the third one was unnecessary especially since they will eventually be obsolete.

Signed! And don't forget about the Vex too plz! Kbai!

I agree up the damage to match. BUMP :P

Totally agree with the idea, not generally a fan of online petitions but this seems very worthy, my pals and me were quite annoyed when doing VOG, everyone automatically burnt any weapons (not mythoclast) they got as they were useless now. signed.

Bump. I'd love to have my Atheon's Epilogue up to 331.

I used to agree with those who would say "It's an MMO. When an XPAC releases in WoW they don't update raid weapons to bring them to the same level as new raid weapons.". However after playing Destiny for some time now I am starting realize this game is not a traditional MMO like WoW and I agree with Bungie's description of it being a "Shared World Shooter". That places this game in slightly different category than WoW. Also the fact that DLC is released in a 3 to 4 month cycle and gear drops are painfully at the will of RNGesus, no one will want to grind out a Raid for a particular weapon to only have it become marginally useful a month later. I think the best thing to do would be to update weapon stats on raid drop weapons only for each DLC on each Destiny release. If it's a legendary raid weapon, it should be update to be close to one tier below the current Attack value for newer DLC legendaries. All Exotics should be updated to match the current Attack value cap for newer DLC. Example: Destiny 1 - The Dark Below > VoG weapons updated to max attack 323 > ALL Exotic weapons max attack 331 - House of Wolves > VoG weapons updated to max attack 331 > CE weapons updated to max attack 343 > ALL Exotic weapons max attack 351 - Comet > VoG weapons updated to max attack 331 > CE weapons updated to max attack 351 > HoW weapons updated to max attack 351 > ALL Exotic weapons max attack 371

Edited by m00ninite: 1/6/2015 9:07:23 PMThe petitions to upgrade the raid weapons are slightly off base though, imo. What really needs to happen is a max level version of VoG to be released. Keep EVERY raid relevant as end game content. Since there is no natural progression anymore to do VoG and then CE, they might as well always keep all raids at max level and offer the best rewards. This means that a full VoG set is just as viable as a full CE set, based on circumstances. Would offer players much more customization and even situational sets based on the enemies they come across. Edit: Hey OP, you seem to have a reasonable amount of bumps going on for this thread in general. Let's change the tone and utilize my idea posted here rather than be just another petition to upgrade raid weapons yea? This is still in line with allowing players to continue to use their favorite raid weapons moving forward, as well as offer much much more. Moved - http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/90078056

Edited by Remapped: 1/6/2015 6:17:59 PMOr at least you get to pick just one, which you can upgrade, using a something something orb/shard which can only be obtained buy killing the latest raid boss. would be nice to have VoC at 331 This could be done via the gunsmith #ideas #bungie

There should be a (very rare) legendary engram that turns into a 'upgrade any legendary 300 gun to 331 at the gunsmith' engram

Here's the thing, I have legendaries that I love and know that eventually they'll be obsolete, Fatebringer is an excellent example. But I expect that there will be new legendaries coming that will take their place i.E. Word of Crota, Black Hammer for Praedyth's Revenge, etc. This is something I've come to expect from playing other MMOs like WoW, where expansions come out and new gear replaces old. If Bungie decided to update old gear with new stats they might have to do that with the armor as well. Depending on how you look at it this could be a good or bad thing. Personally, I'd say bad, because it would lower my drive to replay a newer raid to get the newer gear and weapons. I understand that this will vary by person though.

I like the idea. If they want to make you work for it they could just add 3 more upgrade bubbles on any VOG gear and require radiant shards and energy to use them. Of course I hate the radiant shards and energy but that's another story.
