Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.
Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down.
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation.
Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

It's definitely a crutch but it doesn't have to be just for the weak, in this case the word crutch is a bad example because even capable people can make good use of it. And any time there's a whole bunch of Orbs on the ground it only makes sense for a Warlock to use their super and generate some orbs of their own, any Warlock that doesn't do this isn't doing as much as they could/should. It's impossible to deny though that the power lends itself to people who die more, and so you're more likely to have people who suck be a Warlock than any other class.

This.

I'm a voidwalker so I wouldn't really know.
-
As a Titan I couldn't agree more
-
Is this written by a hunter? Hehe
-
It's supposed to be used for pve...that is what it was meant for. As for pvp, it's still a whole subclass that people like and its a simple super, for those who don't wanna smash or blade dance. You just keep playing the game with grenades quickly resetting and extra health and boosts of other types I'm sure. Why you hating?
-
If I find stupid people like you that want to do the raid , I'll turn you down.
-
The last self-res warlock I went up against in PvP was a beast. Would call him anything but weak, he looked to be carrying his team.
-
Maybe mine is the view of a somewhat casual player but I cannot remember the last time me and my regular fireteam went to orbit in a nightfall whilst running with my sunsinger and that's in both a team of 2 or 3.
-
I agree, I stopped using my sunsinger for post game content, and have been using my void walker. I can do so much more damage, and it keeps me more focused not havin to rely on sunsinger
-
I use it in Nightfall because it lets me get in to resurrect others without worrying too much about becoming the next link in a wipe chain.

Edited by Angelic Pain: 1/6/2015 1:10:21 PMIt's lets me play more offensive and revive people/solo parts of the raid (left and middle conflux on hard) w/o worrying if I get ninjad by a fanatic. Be more offensive, protect both, win

lol @ you
-
As a Hunter main.. I love the fast grenade recharge when its active I dont res at all but -blam!- does it burn bosses. Warlock is a fun class to play!
-
Or an enabler to play with a bolder playstyle
-
A crutch... More or less a safety net to be precise. I don't play more recklessly or less so. For that instant I make a deadly mistake I'll be glad I had my safety net on the nightfall. Just did it with my main Hunter so I'm not some warlock elitist.

Husk of Pit. Worth it? Exotic-Necrochasm http://youtu.be/lkopsOoZTpw
-
I've generated over 10 orbs before using my super to spam grenades at enemies, it doesn't need to be used for self rez. OP is ignorant!
-
Lol this guy... Mr perfect over here.
-
All three die on the nightfall. Dude why didn't you self res. cause u said they have no use so I used void walker. It's more of a team crutch

It's for scrubs and encourages reckless and sloppy play. "It's cool, my self rez is charged" The only time that it's of good use is when a Warlock saves the fire team from a wipe.
