Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.
Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down.
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation.
Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

Bubble shield is kind of a crutch too I guess I mean cmon guys you're letting your team down /s

When you're soloing strikes it's good.

Edited by Crazypuddingcup: 1/7/2015 8:35:51 AMRight. Because dps has anything to do with supers. Defender Titan with WoL sure. Self res is useful if I get downed in a difficult spot in a nightfall or raid. Especially in a hard raid where there are no revives. As for pvp. There is nothing better than getting a 10 kill streak, dying, and wait for the moron that killed you to start t-bagging. Self res and watch him panic as he dies. Edit: auto correct got me in a few places.

Fun how warlocks are still in such high demand for raids isn't it. Sure we can cheese the whole thing and could cheese the vog but still even after they are patched they are the best for the first part of crota and the bridge. Also sunsinger is the only class that can break crota shield solo with super
-
You know nothing about sunsinger. We supply orbs on energy drain (melee) not just on our rez noob. You must be one of those hunters that hide in the corner.
-
Sunsinger has self res because they handicap themselves by giving up Super for post mortem use.
-
Radiant skin is always my main choice.
-
some warlocks like me save our RES for running out there helping that hunter that thinks their immortal. or waiting for in-case my team dies during nightfall ill res and rev them....not all sunsingers are alike so please don't assume were all thinking about our-self's
-
Bubble shield is a crutch for the weak....
-
I run with a friend who pkays sunsinger. I love his selfrez in the nightfall. Anywhere else I dont care. I carry my own and so does he.
-
You poor naive fool... How is the titan's super blueballs ability, so glaringly superior?
-
Another post like this? I don't main as a Warlock, so obviously I don't rely on Self-Res a lot. That being said, self-res isn't a crutch, it is an useful skill that can be activated in clutch situations. Period.

You are ignorant. Spewing your opinions as if they are fact is a sign of ignorance. Please stop
-
You claim a few things based on zero knowledge and only assumptions. Dislike +1
-
I love people who say self-res is for noobs. So you've never died playing this game I take it?
Seriously. What use is it outside of PvP?
Didn't read the rest ...

I only revive if people teabag me for no reason.
-
All dem haters of warlock sun singer-- my lvl 29 is offended, but don't worry I've started hunter
-
Your just mad cause you know sunsinger with self rez>everything else

Edited by Recon SR2: 1/6/2015 9:59:50 PMFirst, it is a useful perk, and is a life-saver in the Nightfall. I personally prefer Radiant Skin, or Song of Flame if we are all bunched together. But for some missions, where you need someone to take a risk, a Sunsinger with Fireborn is probably the best bet. Also, what if you get sniped in the open when running from cover? It saves a lot of time if you can self-revive and run back to cover. It seems to be very useful when fighting Supplicants in the Vault. A warlock with Sunsinger can easily prevent a wipe. It has it's uses, so don't hate on it too much. With that being said, there are plenty of people who don't know how to use Sunsinger correctly, and they hold onto it for a ridiculous amount of time, so I understand the caution. Before you kick them, ask if they could use Song of Flame or Radiant Skin instead. If they say no, probably give them the boot, because they probably use it as a crutch. If they say sure, or that they'll switch for at least part of the mission, then I say let them in.

Edited by Samsons Jawbone: 1/6/2015 9:58:54 PMLet me get this straight, having Gjallahorn is somehow a BAD thing? Ok cool, tell you what. I'll meet you in the town square. You bring a knife, I'll bring my M60. You can take comfort in the fact that you'll at least had some "skill" because you didn't rely on an easy weapon to use. You truly are a moron. Yes, let's just NOT bring the best tools for the job. I'm sure your boss loves it when you tell them you won't send an email but will spit out your reports on a 1962 Electrolux typewriter in a few days. Please, just jump in a fire.

I know. I prefer hunters love all classes. I wanted to see how playing as an easy mode warlock felt like. It's amusing on a nightfall with saker burn, but hats about it. Their play style sucks.

Or a life boat for a failing team
