Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.
Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down.
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation.
Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

Only reason I use it is to piss people like you off :D

Fantastic, another rant from "Tales of the Butthurt Raiders". It's dumb shit like this that has made me completely avoid the raids. I agree to some extent, bad players don't know how to utilize their supers effectively, but self-rez isn't the problem. Since I play 90% of this game solo, I see needing a team to be a crutch, and having self-rez as a required tool; I don't care how Bungie designed it, most of this game is difficult enough to need a team. For the record, I do practice popping my super to drop maximum orbs for my team. The biggest challenge to the raids is clearly communication. Jumping on the forums to complain about a class ability is not the type of communication that helps in raids. If people aren't willing to truly work as a team, they shouldn't be in the raid group, that goes for you, and for the derpy warlocks.

Edited by PhiIosophers: 1/6/2015 4:04:06 PMStep back and look at how arrogant this post, your comments are. Gamers come to have fun. The entire point if it. Most have a life so gaming is a last priority. Not trying to do the best and out doing anyone they play with. Get off your high horse and remove yourself from the community.
Waste of my air and bandwidth. Bye
I use self rez and im better than you :)
-
When I have my self res it enables me to play two styles. Aggressive and defensive. When I have my super charged I can sacrifice myself for the good of the team. For example I can charge in and stop a praertorian sacrificing knowing I will die to save a team wipe. I can then self res. I have in the past saved a fellow guardian by rocketing an enemy at very close range in a crucial stage of the hard raid.
-
"I turn them down" Haha who does this kid think he is? Hahahahahaha. If you said that to me I'd absolutely torture you. Dps? Mate your super won't do half as much damage to any raid boss as my gjallhorn would.
-
You are a special kind of person
-
Self res has saved so many teams from losing a strike or raid in pve. Don't cry because you can't self res
-
Obsidian mind voidwalker orb maker not all warlocks use fireborn think before you post but that might be asking to much
-
Straight up I never do Sunsinger anymore in any of the 2 raids. It's so boring, Voidwalker is easily the way to go.
-
Self res is an absolute gem in things like nightfalls and using a character with self res can be 10x more strategic than not using one. Who cares if you don't get orbs from them, they are there to give EVERYONE a second chance, not just themselves.
-
I agree somewhat, when im a sunsinger i.activate it before death n generate orbs, like in this nf its better to be that. But other than that im alwaus void, dont confuse all warlocks for people who need that "crutch"
-
U wat m8 self-res is good in Cass of a emergency u scrub
-
You have 135 Raid deaths. That means there are 135 times where you could have used self res.
-
Omg what an original idea, this is revolutionary
-
Alright I soloed the nightfall today with self res. I bet you can't solo it without it.
-
Self res is the ultimate support tool in VOG and nightfalls... they're not selfish. They're giving the team a chance to live if things get a bit hectic.
-
You realize that a warlock with the raid helm can still generate orbs and use self res. Also I don't know about you but im a warlock with the vex and gjalahorn with over 120 raid completions. I know what im doing in the raid so if you want to talk about my subclass why don't you try being a sunsinger. If anything sunsingers are crucial players in the raid due to cheesing. Some raid teams need a sunsinger cause they don't know how to stay alive with a relic ( or sword ) and sunsingers can just self res and pick it back up. I know i've saved multiple raid teams with my self res by jumping off a cliff before the teleport and self resurrecting after the teleport when we only have 3 people so that im on the outside and the other 2 are on the inside. Why do you need your super so often? What do you just rely entirely on your super and without it you can't shoot? You have other teammates sunsingers don't have to be the ones generating orbs get yourself some intellect and quit complaining.

I'll agree its not of any use in pvp, just another kill on the same person. Pve however is more solely based on the person. Voidburn ill switch to void and play more carefully. Anything else ill go sunsinger with fireborn. Why? It's called being prepared for anything. Enough orbs on the ground, ill use my damn super AMD generate 1 ( sunsingers don't generate much just by lowering grenade cooldowns) or create a safe zone with solar grenades. If I see 1 orb pm the ground, I'm not using my super because its a damn waste. Or if I know my team , ill use it, do the same thing cause its not that good of a super, and keep killing to let it recharge. Sunsingers aren't a class based on generating orbs like voidwalker, gunslinger, strikers, bladedancers, like defenders, we use our supers when we need to. A denfender titan can drop his bubble down anywhere, but a good one knows when to put it down to deal more damage and or save a teammate. Same with a sunsinger.
-
Well, I just got Fireborn on my Warlock this weekend. My first use of it was to save our group from wiping in the Abyss before the hall of light. I ran it out and we got the checkpoint. So sorry you have a hatred for Sunsingers.
-
Thank you for your insight.
-
Finally! Someone who understands. You know what you're talking about sir. Keep educating the masses.
-
Ackter is a crutch to the ignorant and worthless. There is no point to his tear filled post except he's been killed way to many times by a self res warlock.
-
I can be reckless when I'm by myself. I can save my buddy and I in Nightfall when we -blam!- around, I like rising from the ashes like a god and smacking bitch acolytes in the face with my fist of fire! And my fire wings look pretty sweet.
