Warlock self-res is a crutch for the weak.
Seriously.
What use is it outside of PvP?
That's right - people who struggle to stay alive can have a second chance at dying again. Give me a Warlock whose build is based around staying alive any day of the week. A Warlock using self-res is basically waiting to die. They're holding the rest of the team back. They don't generate orbs unless they die. They don't activate supers unless they die. They're basically a drain on DPS and team strategy/cohesion. If you're a Warlock with self-res, you're letting your team-mates down.
When recruiting for Raids, I ask people if they use self-res and then turn them down if they say yes. I want my Warlocks to be team-players, not people concerned only about themselves.
It's not really any use in PvP either.
Edit: apologies if I've stopped replying to someone in particular, this forum makes it impossible to look through everything and keep up with every conversation.
Edit 2: Next week on Ackter Provokes: The Gjallarhorn and how if it was suddenly removed, 99% of players would no longer be able to beat anything!

You are incorrect
-
I'm sorry but if your whole fire team were all to die right before you finish a nightfall I think you would appreciate a self-res. P.s #warlockmasterrace

defender titans are scubs coz they hide inside a bubble.... Pls tell why u post this
-
We can: 1. make ridiculous unnecessary decisions in combat (fun) 2. Save our team from a total wipe during boss fights 3. Generate a shit ton of orbs for the team!
-
I read this as the warlocks self res is clutch for the week.

I use radiant skin when I raid -blam!- a self rez
-
Edited by grantmy: 1/6/2015 4:43:37 PMNot everyone holds on to their super for rez on the off chance that they die. About 95% of the time, I have fireborn on but take every chance I can to use my super and generate orbs. One of my favourites is when I'm in the centre for confluxes on VoG - when legions are summoned, it's a great opportunity to generate as many orbs as possible for my team so that they can do the same and we can all keep that going. And I don't have to rely on spamming grenades - any kill that I get with radiance on gives me orbs, so rocket launchers also become your friend when radiance is active. I think that the super should be used (in reason) whenever it's available. Otherwise, if it so happens that my super is charged and I die, why wouldn't I want to rez? I don't see that overall play style as a crutch, since we all die at some point. I do agree with you 100% that it is selfish and pointless to only use your super for self rez - I imagine that it would also be pretty boring.
-
Nightfall is the only time I'd like a self res warlock. Any other time, i agree. They just aren't helping.
-
Your raid, your call. I can help my raid with the orbs I can spawn or I can be my raids "net". What ever I feel like playing that day. Down sides to both and up sides. I'm sure there have been Orb-locks who had there kills taken by another raider blowing a good supper.

Until said Warlock is Last Gaurdian Standing in raid because he Rezzed and picks your ass up, choad smoker, shut up, ignorant prick...
-
I usually don't run with self res. I use either song of light or the one that reduces damage. You become a -blam!-ing tank is what happens when you pair that with flame shield. Pvp or pve you become a grenade throwing meleeing tank. So it's actually a highly effective super. Took me a while to see the true value of it.
-
How does it not help your team out? When everyone is dead, guess who held onto their super, not using it JUST for this Hail Mary moment. The Warlock. It's not allowing ourselves to use our bail out super as often, just in case our team needs that clutch continuation. And during Nightfalls? self res is what keeps everyone from going back to orbit. So while I understand your disdain for the Fireborn, I respectfully disagree to your sentiments as well.
-
Just wondering what system do you play on
-
-
Remember when the team dies and the warlock self revives before the timer runs out and you go to orbit just to save your ass? Yeah weak and not a team player.....
-
Seriously it's totally useless in pvp. I don't use it as a cruch in PvE though. Mostly used when soloing nightfall and weekies. It does occasionally save the day im afraid to tell you.
-
My friend always gets angry at me when I don't use sunsinger. I don't use it in nightfalls or weekly's/raids because it's simply just not my type of play style. I don't like being used as a warlock for the sake of not getting wiped.
-
I typically run Voidwalker for the panic button in PvE and PvP. If one of my raid teammates die, I switch to Sunsinger, because we can't afford to be down another player.
-
A good Warlock uses Fireborn as a last resort option, not a strategy. I have no idea where this hostility is coming from but quite frankly, I wouldn't want to go near a fire team with you in it.
-
Lmao ppl hate on self-res so much... except if it's saving their ass in a nightfall then it's all like Ooooh clutch I love you man... -blam!- outta here.
-
You're stupid
-

Ackter is a crutch to the ignorant and worthless. There is no point to his tear filled post except he's been killed way to many times by a self res warlock.
-
It's saved many a raid/nightfall. I doubt you'd complain if it was your ass benefitting from a warlock res.
-
*Looks at OP's stats for PvP and PvE* *Notices how many times OP has died in game* Let me guess, OP; jealous that you died and couldn't Jesus your way back into the fight? Therefore self-res "must be" someone with no skill? LMAO Get bent, OP. Jealousy doesn't look good on anyone.
