Do you even nightfall bro?
Seriously though, self res can be a life saver if everyone else is dead. That skull pops up and the count down starts....tears begin to roll as the timer hits one..."IMMM AALLIIIIVVVVVEEE!!!!!" *cheers* *rejoicing*

Yes. I nightfall often, usually with Warlocks.

Exactly! :P

My Warlock friends change between Radiant Skin and Song of Flame. Except for one, who insists on dying and self-resing a lot, but he's an old stubborn friend so I put up with it.

I use have self revive on for the more challenging things in the game like the Nightfall and Raid (for certain parts in hard raid only; there's no need in normal). Though I may have this equipped, I never use it since I rarely die (not trying to brag). The problem that everyone has with Fireborn is the fact that a lot of stupid kids use it, then immediately die upon reviving. I assume this is why you hate it so much resulting in this thread? Those people use it as a crutch, but people like myself use it as a backup plan. Rather, an absolute last resort to prevent an unfortunate wipe. There is a huge difference between the two. I have never used self revive and hear my team laugh at me calling self res a crutch. It's often times a panicked "please tell me you have res!" followed by a sigh of relief.

No, I made this thread because so many people and teams become reliant on it. They become complacent "oh it doesn't matter if I die, Warlock McBacktolife will just res and save the day". Do you remember the days when hard raiders would only ask for warlocks with self res for their teams? If you stopped having res, your team would become panicked less as they'd have to rely on themselves instead of you. Can you count how many times you've been asked if you're running self res? If I'm asked that when joining a raiding party with my Warlock, I'll leave because I know they're expecting me to save them. I'd much rather wipe until people learned what to do than have to run around saving people with self-res.

But then in this case it's the team using you as a crutch and not you using Fireborn as one. A good Warlock, or at least one that knows how to be any bit of help, knows how to properly use Fireborn to actually benefit a team.
