Well this officially fills my idiot quota for the day.
A good SunSinger doesn't really use their special. It's only a last ditch efforts when reviving. Or atleast it's how it's supposed to be.
It's a raid perk just like the Titan bubble.
A good SunSinger doesn't really use their special
Then why bother having it at all? Why not select a super you actually do use? Also, if you consider the bubble a raid perk, you're really using it wrong.

They are both support specials yes. And I don't rely on specials to do my damage in Destiny. It seems mostly for pvp anyway blade dancer and golden gun work best in pvp. The Titan smash as well and bubble. If you are relying on your specials to do your damage in pve, then you are doing it wrong. Especially in raid content. And to answer your question, the revive super is there in case of screw ups or wipes.

Do you even know what the supers do? You don't want your entire team capable of throwing out 6 grenades per second? You don't want your entire team to have double shields, or a 20%~ damage buff? The Raid is where the supers are most useful, or do you only use them in Patrol? A team will learn nothing from a screw up if a self-reser saves the day. If everyone wipes and tries again, they'll start to improve.

The only specials I've seen that really matter in pve is the Titan shield and the SunSinger revive. You do more weapon damage than a golden gun at high levels and Titan smashing yourself into a mob of high levels can equal death. Also every time we die we learn something, doesn't take a full wipe to do it. I really don't know who you have been grouping with, but it sounds like they pissed in your cornflakes.
