If warlocks use self-res to save their arses, or their team's arses, then no-one will learn anything and no-one will improve.
You're basically backing up my point. So many people rely on a self-res to save them that they continually do stupid things. They won't stop doing that until people stop saving their arses.

It clearly needs [i]some[/i] skill or people wouldn't be continuously dying and waiting for someone with self revive to save them.
