I like the idea. If they want to make you work for it they could just add 3 more upgrade bubbles on any VOG gear and require radiant shards and energy to use them. Of course I hate the radiant shards and energy but that's another story.

This is exactly what they should do. If you want to use the old, hard to get weapons from the VoG you should have to grind for it more. Add three more damage output bubbles.
