Holly then sneaks into the room, and accidentally wakes up Paul as she closes the window. She makes a comment about how the woman had stayed quite late for a decorator and then goes on to question what it is that Paul does for a living. He reveals to her that he is a writer currently working on a novel that he feels will be a great success even though his last work only sold twelve copies ten years earlier. She asks him to tell her a story, and he says that they aren't the kind that can be told.
