Why?
I mean, why would you say no to having more weapons at your disposal?
You don't lose anything. It's the exact opposite.

It would ruin the game. VOG is for players at level 26 - 30. CE level 30 - 32. Yeah I'd like to have my VOC, TDYK, etc upgraded but they are legendary weapons. Their role is for those levels. I get what Bungie are doing here each raid is designed for specific levels. That makes it interesting for me.
