Anyone know/speculate why the gift wasn't on 25th December?
Bungie: It's kind of traditional to give gifts on that date you know?

Because Bungie employees wanted to give actual gifts to their families on that day.

It's a way to keep from glorifying one specific religious-based hollidy. Don't complain about the timing, just be happy they gave you something.

At least you're getting something out of it. If nothing else, you can dismantle for materials to upgrade others. It's better than nothing.

At this stage I have ascendant energy coming out my ears (but I'd kill for shards - if only they could be traded!) but you are right. One shouldn't moan about anything that's free - they didn't have to give anything so it is a nice gesture.
