I don't think Bungie would look at skipping the Deathsingers as cheating. Perhaps an abuse of/manipulation of their checkpoint system, but not cheating.
Also, perhaps you don't recognize this, but there are a fair amount of people that know how to do it legit, but prefer to not waste their time since there is no reward tied to the Deathsingers. For me, I thought not getting a reward when we beat her on the raid's debut day was a glitch. It was hard initially and I assumed that SOMETHING should drop. Now it's easy, but why waste time over something when you get nothing for it. To fix this, Bungie could add a loot drop (weapons/armor/etc.) for her on hard mode.

I think a lot of people approach raids with a "beat it right once (like a story mission) and then maximize loot for the remainder" mentality. For some, skipping is easier because they aren't as skilled, which is what you are angry about. Getting drops that your aren't skilled enough to earn can be annoying but that has nothing to do with deathsinger because it's crotas bug causes that issue. He SHOULD be the wall that deathsinger skippers crash into. I would say that for many, it's simply a quicker means to loot. They don't actually care about the raid fights. Beat deathsinger once, load to checkpoint, swap characters and fight crota 3 times rapidly is very efficient. I don't do that because I've only ran 1 titan since launch. Humans choose the path of least resistance many times. Is it right? Not usually. Does this make them worthless players at a video game? No.
