Were you around to determine if it made a sound or not, no? Then you could not possibly assume that it made no sound.

Then if that's true, are you around the North West to determine if BigFoot exists? If no then you can't possibly assume he or a species of ape don't exist there. Nor can you assume mermaids aren't real since you aren't in the oceans to determine that.
