Fair enough, as I said I didn't have the chance to get all the way through, but don't they travel through the gates to travel through time? Those are some of the long ancient things here prior. So then it begs the question did the ex actually build the gates, or did someone long gone and they just use them and adapt that technology. It's not unheard of in the real world.
