Where does "rehashing the same stories" come into play with better written universes like the ones I mentioned?

You're correct, you didn't say that, those franchises have several games under their belt however, and had to start somewhere. Destiny is rich with lore already, as per this thread, imagine how immersive it will be within 3-4 games, if you give it the chance. Or you can immerse yourself in a universe that started almost 25 years ago, like TES
