This is a great idea. The only problem I see is balancing. What might be a way of doing it is this:
Decrypt item: get Galahad E
2 options
1 destroy for glimmer/upgrade parts
2 salvage for weapon frame/other parts
- weapon frame retains base stats of salvaged gun
- the other parts could be scopes, barrels, fitted stocks and other parts.
- by salvaging for parts you can pick 2 parts from the gun
- note this does not include perks such as glass half full or firefly
3 salvage for perks
- by salvaging this way you get to pick one perk that you want from the gun.
Then you can bring to the gunsmith and let him have a workbench option or something like that. You then have to have a weapon frame and the corresponding amount of parts/ perks for each value of weapon.
For example:
Create a gun using only Galahad E frame and get a white Galahad E at a reduced level but better attack than other randomly dropped whites.
Create a gun with Galahad E frame, 3 scopes/barrels, 2 other parts(fitted stock, flared magwell, etc.) get a new blue version of the Galahad E with your chosen parts and perks.
And so on for other types of guns.
Could also use parts gathered in patrol to add special effects like elemental damage or a slight increase in base weapon stats.
