In the opening scene when the astronauts are walking and the mountain chain is changing. Would this support Dr. Shims theory that we are trapped in a Vex simulation and it's showing the alternate simulation timelines. All very similar but have different outcomes. Would the Stranger have come from another timeline or from another simulation that had a different outcome and was further along? She knew where we would be on Earth, she knew we were going to the Moon. She knows the steps through our guardians objective but maybe wanted to see how we reacted before she interfered, make sure she could trust us first.
Also, with her following us around. When we enter the archive the computer welcomes Dr. Shim. Was she close by and the computer recognized her? Dr. Shim believed they may be in a Vex simulation. Did Shim figure out how to jump from simulation to simulation? Do we know what race Shim was? (Haven't read all of the grimoire yet) If Shim was Human, could Shim have created a subroutine of his/her conciousness to put in an Exo body to carry on with the study of the Vex after he/she died. Would explain the Strangers obsession with the Vex and able to use Vex technology.
Just some thoughts I've had. If I am completely off, please feel free to debunk it and I would like to know the grimoire card that does.
