It has appeared that there is another fanfic on the community, so to accommodate I have posted a part to the story in an earlier time. I'd also like to again remind everyone that constructive criticism is still always welcomed!
Part 3: Learning New Things
After going over linear jump physics in school the next day, Matthew begged his father to allow him to go out onto the border of the Cosmodrome to play.
Matthew’s father closed his eyes in thought and after a long silence he sighed and opened them again,
“Alright-”
“Yes!” Matthew exclaimed, cutting his father off,
“But at 6 o’clock or at ANY sign of trouble, you have to come straight back through that hole, got it?”
Matthew nodded his head vigorously, and then proceeded to run upstairs to his room. He emptied his backpack and stuffed things into it he hadn’t used in almost five years. He rushed down the stairs where his father was waiting and opened the door.
“What’s with the bag?” Matthew’s mother asked him,
“Toys to play with.” Matthew said, suspiciously quickly.
Matthew’s mother decided not to push against all her motherly instincts and waved him off.
“Have fun, don’t get into trouble!” She called as Matthew and his father exited the door.
Matthew and his father got to the wall in about fifteen minutes or so. His father looked around to make sure no one was watching them then quickly pulled off the loose grate for Matthew. The boy crawled in the hole and started for the hole at the other end.
“Remember! 6 o’clock!” his father called in to Matthew before closing the grate and heading back home.
Matthew shoved into the loose grate between him and the border of the wilderness, and eventually managed to push it out. The jump down wasn’t far, only more or less than a foot, but Matthew was always scared of falling off and hurting himself. He carefully put himself into a sitting position and hopped off. His feet landed safely to the ground with a soft thud.
At the sound of someone exiting the hole, the small Fallen child peeked around the corner and came as close to a grin as a Fallen could manage and ran towards Matthew and embraced him in a hug, a gesture that Matthew had taught him. Matthew held up a finger and pulled off his backpack.
The Fallen boy watched Matthew quizzically as Matthew drew out a few pieces of paper from his backpack. He then showed it to the Fallen child and pointed to one of the markings,
“A.”
The Fallen child raised its brow.
“A.” Matthew repeated again.
“Ah… eh… Ay…?” The Fallen boy shakily said.
Matthew grinned, his young alien friend was learning faster than he had expected.
This process repeated for the whole day until around 6 o’clock, where the Fallen child had already learned the entire alphabet and their sounds, though had trouble with letters that require only two lips like ‘B’ or ‘P’.
Matthew waved goodbye to his friend, who he gave the paper to practice, and crawled back through the hole, where his father was waiting for him.
This was repeated for four whole years, the two boys teaching each other new things every day, though Matthew’s parents began to grow more and more suspicious.

What did the fallen teach Mathew? Other than that good work!
