Why is Destiny boring?

Now before we all start clamoring over one another to shout out our most recent peeves on what Destiny did to us today, let's stop and think about this. If you don't know what I mean, try this: Go to wherever it is you play games and turn off the lights. Turn up the TV, turn off your phone, and cancel out any and all other distractions. Just play Destiny. It's boring. Why is it boring? Is it just me that experiences this? I like the gunplay, of course. The gunplay is really what draws me to the game, that and some kind of tantilizing addiction to the gear dangled just out of reach by the random loot generator. But that's not what I mean. When I stop planning out my character and exit the PS party or turn off the movie on my computer and actually focus on what's happening in the game, I get this overwhelming urge to stop and play or watch something more interesting because the game is boring. Why is that?

  • Can’t replay the so-called story. Infusion forces specific gameplay. Public events are always the same. It’s a ghost town. Public events are no fun solo. The barons; fight minions down corridor/tunnel and bullet sponge in locked room - snore. Tiny maps with bottomless drop offs are too similar. Crucible, Gambit, Banner ruin any feeling of community. Players rush through strikes, removing any chance of fun. Can’t actually go over there.

i will tell you why people play the game way too quickly you should take one mission at a time unless you are talking about the first game then i completely agree there really is nothing to do in the first game

  • I think the repetitiveness has a lot to do with it. The way i work around it is having a goal. Obviously there are the weekly events we all try to finish while our friends still need to complete them. But after that i work on bounties then switch to strike playlist. Now i don't have a lot of play time so I'm never done with all these too quickly. I know it seems more like a check list and maybe it is but it helps. Also I'll switch to working on my exotic bounties from time to time. With iron banner i was able to multitask and finish all 3 exotic bounties. (Ive had these forever, no i didn't get all bounties back to back) Also helps to have multiple characters, working on my warlock's vanguard rank to buy dlc armor and trying to get my hunter to 20 to final equip the armor I've bought/ found for him.

    • I just started playing this Christmas and the grind to get higher level light is so... Grindy that I feel no accomplishment other than saying to myself: "hey look wow, I got another light level!" Also, I've only been logging on to do bounties, and even those are repetitive because there's no variety to them. I could start a new character, which I'm planning on doing to perhaps freshen my play time, but I'll consider it later. I want to test out FFXIVs new 2.5 patch that adds 3 x more content that the 20 dollar "expansion" I purchased!

    • Severe lack of endgame. Literally everything in this game is done to improve your loot, so once you top off your ideal character, you realize how depressingly empty this game is. Strikes are a repetitive pain, story is a bland grind, and crucible is fun for an hour but it lacks variety and is broke as hell.

    • It is repetitive in a very confined world of content. There is no choice: even your skill and weapon set are dictated by the gear you have. This is due to a very limited array of top end gear. There has been no new content added, only new graphics... and those graphics were added to the world, not gear where it is desperately needed. I stopped playing this Tuesday and I haven't even done the raids. Why bother? The gear is a minor improvement, there is no reward for reaching 30 or 32, I'll look the same as everyone else, and I'll still have the same repetitive content that does not improve my characters in any way. That is why Destiny is boring. Summed up in one word the game is narrow.

      • The game is boring because it makes you endlessly grind for no reward. You get a chance for a reward but 90% of the time it is not something you want. Players are unable to set a path or goals and meet those goals.

        • Destiny only has like maaaaaaybe 10 hours of actual content. Even Diablo 3 which has the same kind of shit rng has better replay value because the levels are always changing and so are the encounters. Here it's just the same crap over and over. Same weapons reskinned with hive entrails wrapped around them. The exotic resets, rep resets for ib, new material requirements for expac raid gear, etc etc. It's all just a lame attempt at artificially extending low content. It works for a while but people wise up. I hope they save this game for the people. I just log on Tuesday's because my fire team needs me. Other than that maybe an hour of pvp on the weekend. And trust me, making more chars to help with the boredom will only make it worse. You think levelling and bitch grinding one char is bad? Try doing that x3.

          • Its overly repetitive, like blatantly repetitive... the loot system makes it even more repetitive. The game has 1000's of glitches in it. The servers suck ass and make things difficult to play through without losing a fireteam member. Every new item is a reskinned old item, no creativity at all... my farts are more creative than this "game". They never patch errors or glitches, they just make it worse. Gambling addicts will defend this game to death but thats just another problem with destiny honestly. This game just sucks.
