It looks fu*king stupid and I don't get it. Edit: I also despise the shroud of flies and whatever the fu*k the eris cloaks/ capes/ emergency space toilet paper they are called. Edit 2: Everyone saying "because you see the whole helmet" did you actually not come to the conclusion that bungie gave us the hoods on purpose? Edit 3: I am not saying you should stop wearing what you want in game because "I don't get it" but I will voice my opinion on the matter regardless, for which I have the right.
