Let's take the social experimenting in a different direction. Once again, there is no right or wrong answer, each answer can be inferred for more than the answers itself, and each answer can be related to point of view. However, this time, we are experimenting moral compass with personal convictions about the U.S. Military. We are using a hypothetical situation, that would probably not occur in actuality.
So heres the situation: The U.S Congress approves a draft for a war in the Middle East. Obviously, as there is not a draft currently, so the circumstances that the U.S. Government have observed to send volunteer troops there now has changed, and this is now a substantial matter of national and international security. The "lottery" (a system by which they select draftees) is in place, and you are an appropriate aged male. By laws surrounding a U.S. draft, students are able to finish their semesters, and Seniors in college are allowed to finish the year. After these periods of schooling, you are eligible to be drafted.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And here is the question: How would you personally react to being drafted? Why is this so? And what is your background (student, in the work force, professional, etc.) currently?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, if you chose to evade the draft, you must keep in mind that you are endangering/revoking your citizenship with the U.S. and are now prohibited from the country. If you are already in the military, then you would presumably be okay with being drafted into the military, and thank you for your service. Also, if you are ineligible currently to be drafted, neglect that, and consider yourself eligible. Answers like "but I is 14 I no military" and "I not from merica" are inadequate for this social experiment.
Finally, every time you vote in a poll and do not comment, you become incredibly hungry, but are not in the mood for anything in your house.

IF YOU ARE NOT AMERICAN OR NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A DRAFT, I DONT CARE. I'M ASKING A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION. IMAGINE YOU ARE AMERICAN, OR IMAGINE I AM ASKING YOU IF YOUR COUNTRY DRAFTED YOU TO ITS MILITARY IN A WAR SITUATION.
-
Other: They look at me and revoke my drafting notice because I am in no way fit for the military.
-
I didn't need that little hypothetical part about why. The answer is yes. My country needs me im there in a heartbeat.
-
Id enlist if it got that bad
-
Already in. Can't be drafted. I volunteered.
-
Rather do jail time or join opposing side.
-
I can't because my kneecaps dislocate during nearly any athletic activity. I can run for about 15 seconds before my leg twists and my kneecap slips out of place
-
I'd go, but only if I could perform in a role where I might actually be helping.
-
I would go without question or disposition.
-
Nope, would evade the draft
-
At least you would get tax breaks and free (but broken) healthcare
-
I never saw your answer. What's your take?
-
I'd rather put a bullet in my head than harm another person for any reason other than to directly save an innocent life.

Edited by bigDixNairplanes: 1/18/2015 2:05:52 AMThere is no greater honour a man can achieve in his lifetime then dying in defense of his country and loved onesSorry i should say risking their life not dying. I don't wanna cheapen those that lived but served.

>a substantial matter of national and international security >a war in the Middle East *endlessly chortles*

Edited by Sgt Slaughter: 1/18/2015 1:47:08 AMI would go, but depending on the circumstances, might morally disagree. Assuming i was morally disagreeing, i would hope they are in need of a non combat CPA position (or some sort of accounting/office staff ). If i was not morally disagreeing ( we were attacked unprovoked or we were actually fighting in the states) i would definately hope to be front line.

I plan to go into the Navy as a Doctor, I'd like to finish college and medical school before going in to be honest....
-
Awkward as I'm not American... Or in America
-
I already served.
-
Depends on the situation, I would try to join if I believed in what we were fighting for(i.e. WW2). I don't think I can join though, I have eczema.
-
I would be fine, this country has given me a life that some other people dream of, therefore I feel like it would be my duty to protect it
-
Man if I get drafted I would love to go to the marines or the air force. I feel like it's a life I could get used to but I also feel like I'm being forced and for that reason I do not support the great.
-
I'm strongly antimilitary / antiwar, regardless of political justification. Thus part of the reason I wish to leave the country.

Edited by Kekyoin's Underwater Donut: 1/16/2015 8:08:04 AMHm, quick question first. Are men required to sign-up for the draft when they come of age?
-
Evade the draft before I am drafted
-
For a war in the Middle East? Hell no, I would be a conscientious objector.
-
I don't morally agree with a draft because I don't feel I should be obligated to throw my life on the line for my country, especially if we would be in the process of fighting a war that I don't support at the time. However, if there is a draft, i'd assume the country would actually be endangered somehow, therefore I don't think that would apply. I, however, wouldn't dodge the draft because I wouldn't want to restrict my ability to travel to or reside in the United States. And besides, with any luck i'd be able to work in the military's mortuary affairs and avoid actually risking my life in frontline conflict. I'm studying to be a mortician in college currently.
