Let's take the social experimenting in a different direction. Once again, there is no right or wrong answer, each answer can be inferred for more than the answers itself, and each answer can be related to point of view. However, this time, we are experimenting moral compass with personal convictions about the U.S. Military. We are using a hypothetical situation, that would probably not occur in actuality.
So heres the situation: The U.S Congress approves a draft for a war in the Middle East. Obviously, as there is not a draft currently, so the circumstances that the U.S. Government have observed to send volunteer troops there now has changed, and this is now a substantial matter of national and international security. The "lottery" (a system by which they select draftees) is in place, and you are an appropriate aged male. By laws surrounding a U.S. draft, students are able to finish their semesters, and Seniors in college are allowed to finish the year. After these periods of schooling, you are eligible to be drafted.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And here is the question: How would you personally react to being drafted? Why is this so? And what is your background (student, in the work force, professional, etc.) currently?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Also, if you chose to evade the draft, you must keep in mind that you are endangering/revoking your citizenship with the U.S. and are now prohibited from the country. If you are already in the military, then you would presumably be okay with being drafted into the military, and thank you for your service. Also, if you are ineligible currently to be drafted, neglect that, and consider yourself eligible. Answers like "but I is 14 I no military" and "I not from merica" are inadequate for this social experiment.
Finally, every time you vote in a poll and do not comment, you become incredibly hungry, but are not in the mood for anything in your house.

IF YOU ARE NOT AMERICAN OR NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A DRAFT, I DONT CARE. I'M ASKING A HYPOTHETICAL QUESTION. IMAGINE YOU ARE AMERICAN, OR IMAGINE I AM ASKING YOU IF YOUR COUNTRY DRAFTED YOU TO ITS MILITARY IN A WAR SITUATION.

Ok here's my opinion If my country ever gets invaded then -blam!- yes I'm down for that I'm down to protect my family and homeland But if some greedy bastards told me to go kill some innocent lives for some oil in the ground Id be -blam!- you and -blam!- anyone who'd agree to that agenda.
-
Well if I would get drafted I would go. Being in the selective service is part of being an American male. It's your duty to stand up if your country calls on you. Luckily we already have lots of men and women brave enough to volunteer. So there is no need for a draft or conscription. We should be thankful for these people and eager to return the favor if a draft would come. Side note: The U.S. military has a lot great benefits, and a great way to turn your life around.
-
Appropriate reaction, correct?
-
I can't be drafted, my eyesight is too bad.
-
These aren't really social experiments btw. These are just polls.
-
I would grow a pair and fight.

Edited by ZnaZanZ: 1/16/2015 3:20:52 AMWhile I have the utmost respect and gratitude for our Armed Forces, I could not join them. I refuse to kill other human beings who have never wronged me directly or indirectly just because some cowards in office make me. Now, if our representatives would lead us into battle, that'd make a small difference. I would still refuse to kill though. War is pointless. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, so that means that humanity has not yet been able to see. If our country was being invaded however, I would enlist.
-
Canada here I comeeeeeee
Although technically I cannot be drafted
-
I'd flee to Germany. I'm not going to just let myself die.
-
Currently serving in the military for 15 plus years. I think it would be ok, not great for it to happen.....but then again we would have the military back when my Gramps was in...or some variance of sorts

Edited by CAMMCAM: 1/16/2015 5:52:17 AMI would morally disagree though I'd never be drafted. As a military spouse, I support our troops but I do not support or agree with our government.
-
Edited by TunnelSnakesRule: 1/16/2015 6:16:42 AMI think that if you reap the benefits of this country then you have an obligation to support it when needed I'm currently on a DEP for the USMC
-
Me being Canadian and all I think I'd like being drafted into the Canadian army, we'd ask nicely for the terrorist to stop, and if all else fails we'll raise our voices a little bit that'll stop em
-
I would morally object but join. However this is unlikely as my profession is in demand.
-
I would only join if the country was under threat, but not for oil or some other bullshit reason.
-
Edited by BloodyAlien243: 1/16/2015 3:31:03 AMIf I was called to serve I would but only if our nation was threatened. Not for oil or something.
-
I would flee to Canada. I'm not going to kill people just because somebody tells me to.
-
Flee to Canada and live out my life there. I would much rather live as a coward then kill people that have never personally wronged me in some politician's war.
-
If I were American, I'd give up my citizenship.
-
I'd feel weird if I got drafted into the military.... I'm already a commissioned officer in the US military....
-
Edited by BOBPLAYSXBOX: 1/16/2015 4:30:44 AMI'm gonna act as though I was drafted by the Australian army. Agreement. I've got nothing to lose but my life.
-
I'd feel great. I'm probably going in after high school or in some point in my life anyways.
-
I'm in Canada so I can't get drafted
-
Edited by NeXuS: 1/16/2015 12:35:41 AMConscientious objector with regards to forced enlistment. I would never willingly fight for the machine. I will never fight another mans war, unless it's a cause I agree with. If however my country was invaded, I would defend my family, and country men till my last breath. I accept that my citizenship would be in danger, therefore I would GTF out of dodge, and move to a more civilised country. If it was a world altering event, much like ww1 and ww2, I would definitely fight.
-
>Get Gun >Point at Foot >Shoot >Discharged Im never going to be forced to kill another human. I don't even care if my life is in danger.
-
Lol they'd do a lot better without me
