I'm trying to improve in PvP, I have played PvP in FPS since halo 3, so a long time. And usually just playing and learning the maps was enough to get better. I have done that with little to no avail. Destiny is a whole different animal it seems. I'm running my Hunter with this build
Trip mine grenades
Triple jump
Combustion
The perks where throwing knives cause burn
Knife juggler
Attributes focused on armor and agility
And the perk that gives you an extra knife
Weapons
Devil you don't (third eye, field scout, spray and play)
Icebreaker
Valedictorian
Strength and intelligence is 100% and 80% respectively
I mainly play class and control and run around from vantage point to vantage point sniping and falling back to my hand cannon or throwing knives ( occasionally using trip mine as a sticky grenade) when forced into close or mid range. And use trip mines to watch my flank.still I get torn apart by someone from half way across the map with Suros regime or get dissolved by fusion rifles (especially the vex mythoclast) what am I doing wrong? Do I need to abandon strategy all together and just do what everyone else is doing and run around pounding into each other with an auto rifle? If so bungie really needs to work on PvP

Edited by DavidVibez: 1/20/2015 12:20:10 AMDefinitely using the wrong weapons, especially for ranged play. Primary If you want to use a hand cannon then range and clip size matter a great deal so here are your best choices: Thorn The Last Word Fatebringer TFWPKY A scout rifle is a better choice for ranged play though. My B-Line Trauma (from Crucible vendor) is a drop and came with armor-piercing rounds (I can shoot through walls and rocks) and Third Eye (radar stays up). Vision of Confluence and Another NITC from Vanguard are also solid. Secondary Ice Breaker is definitely a PvE weapon. Too much recoil and if you don't get a headshot it will be much harder to get the guy. Even a rare sniper is a better choice. Patience and Time is excellent. Praedyth's Revenge has no recoil when maxed. LDR5001 from Vanguard is perfect because you can buy it and it shoots through walls/rocks thanks to armor-piercing rounds. Ideally your sniper should have: - Ambush scope - Rodeo or Perfect balance - Final round is a bonus that's nice Heavy No rockets. They run out too quick. Carry a machine gun so you get way more chances at kills per heavy ammo drop. MG18A Harm's Way from Vanguard holds 100 rounds per clip when fully leveled and is stable enough for PvP. Any Swarm is amazingly stable. I have Jolder's Hammer from Iron Banner and 3 shots kill so the limited 24 rounds per clip is still good. Setup I have a Hunter so you can look at my build. I personally recommend: - Higher jump (easier to get some higher spots) - Gunfighter (I want to use my golden gun more often) - Incendiary Blade (I'm not throwing a knife during golden gun much less hitting someone in the head) - Keyhole (you can pierce a Ward of Dawn and kill people with golden gun) - Over The Horizon or Gambler's Dagger depending on whether you want that extra knife or want better accuracy. I want the knife for clash but horizon for Control since range is great when a group is capping a point After that it's all about strategy and not getting caught up on wanting to kill that one guy that kept killing you from the same spot, Good luck!

Hey, IMO the Devil You Dont doesn't have enough ammo to do well in crucible. I sharded mine. I think high impact weapons are good, just balance it with your playstyle. Any weapon should be ok in any crucible. IB is the only arena where it really matters. And just like in CoD, don't take a death when you can flee instead. And cover your tracks with a nade when you turn/strafe and flee.

Tbh mate crucible is so ping/connection dependant that sometimes it's not really down to what your doing ! I don't really bother with PvP in destiny it's not really fun . If I roll with vex , a decent sniper for long range and a heavy machine gun I usually get 15-20 kills but that's mainly down to the vex being so good at close range :) try playing with clan/friends and it's usually a good laugh even if you are getting dropped a lot :)
