Your matchmaking is awful, and you should feel responsible

So it shouldn't be a surprise to anyone that the matchmaking suffers in this game, we've all faced it and the interesting assortment of guardians it puts us with. Most times while playing this game I expect to be paired up with the thickest set of mouth-breathing knuckle-draggers that managed to accident their way onto a playlist, and if they end up being able to aim and shoot at the same time it's a pleasant surprise. However there are the many times when I'm talking only to myself because of clunky chat options nobody uses, I am running strikes solo because Mr. AFK hasn't been kicked for inactivity (I'll report him, but only god knows what that'll help) and more often than I like I end up carrying a crucible team as hard as I can without any hope of winning. "How is this our fault?" the Bungie devs say to each other looking around the room, "Surely that is just the fault of a few bad eggs and you are just unlucky to get paired with them". That's where you're mistaken. Poor team cooperation is the direct result of a clunky interface with in-game voice, and the random rewards incentivize players to not try as hard. The matchmaking came as a welcome addition to a number of players looking to have a more competitive (or at least cohesive) experience while playing with guardians they had never met. This hopefully would mean crucible teams could strategize and strike fireteams could coordinate their efforts. However due to a bad interface (i.e. requiring players to activate the team-chat every freaking time) it goes largely unused, and the game is as sterile as ever. "But the children might get their feelings hurt" I guess that's a valid concern, however consoles have parental controls and there could just as easily been an opt-out feature to preserve their virgin ears. And finally to the AFKers. The number-one reason a die-hard 27% of the community devoutly rejects raid matchmaking. Why are there so many players that pick up the controller, only to jump into a playlist and make a sandwich? It's simple, because the RNG at the end of a match will yield equal reward chances to all players. If you go 21-0 you have the same chance to get any reward as the fellow that spun in a circle the entire game. If you get 177 kills during a strike, the guy who dropped in as you were landing the killing blow on Septic-Prime could just as likely pick up the legendary engram. And the level 2 dreg standing outside the Old Russia Patrol has just as much chance to give you that Hardlight that you've been wanting as the level 30 Devil Walker. I understand the philosophy behind RNG, and I don't reject it entirely. However there are other games that do it slightly better. If bigger marks and better performance yielded higher rewards, I'm sure AFKers would start dropping the habit and actually pick up the controller. It may be too late for Destiny, but I hope these things could be considered in the future so we can include more people in the game. And how about building an in-game LFG, huh Bungie. I think your budget could facilitate what a few fans were able to do, and I'd like to be able to find people on the console without having to use a computer first. And add grimiore cards while you're at it, my phone isn't for videogame lore, its to call and text people.
