I'd like to personally thank all the people giving me good feedback, as it really helps a lot! Part 7: A New Life After Matthew emerged he was immediately tossed a standard Vandal helmet, with blue markings and all. Wait, blue? Most pictures of fallen Matthew had seen wore red armor, or very rarely yellow. Now that Matthew looked more closely at his friend’s armor, it seemed he was wearing blue armor as well. “Well, are you going to put it on?” Saliks said, snapping Matthew out of thought. Matthew nodded. As Matthew put on the helmet he could hear a hissing noise, and some kind of gas began to fill his mouth, and Matthew began to panic, immediately ripping the helmet off. A glittering bluish grey gas seeped out of a mouth piece inside the helmet. “What the hell is that?” Matthew said, glaring at the Fallen boy. Saliks looked over his shoulder, “It’s an Ether supplement rebreather, it allows us to lessen the severity of our wounds, but you won’t need it.” Saliks then pulled out and turned a nob on the side of the helmet, allowing the rest of the strange gas to spew out. “We’d better replace it with air for where we’re going.” Saliks continued, jostling the nob a few times before turning it and pushing it back in again. “Try it now.” Matthew once again put the helmet on, but this time when he breathed he was only greeted with fresh air. Saliks handed him a few more pieces of armor, then proceeded to continue to rummage around the Fallen gear. “What do you mean, ‘where we’re going’?” Matthew asked as he slipped on a pair of greaves. Saliks paused for a bit then looked over his shoulder once again. “Venus.” He said nonchalantly. “Venus?!” Matthew asked in shock, dropping a blue pauldron. He expected it to clatter around but all he was greeted by was a dull thud. “You’re not going to survive in the city, and you’re definitely not going to survive out here.” Saliks told him quickly. “Your only choice is to come with me and lay low until we can make a plan.” Matthew continued to look at his friend as if he had grown a second head. “Look, just trust me on this.” There was a long moment of silence, after which Matthew let out a long sigh. “Alright. I trust you. But if I manage to die on Venus, it’s all your fault.” He said, pointing at Saliks so he got the idea. “Don’t worry, I can’t tell the difference between you and a Fallen. A genetically deformed one at that, but still Fallen.” “Thanks, I’m feeling better already…” The boy said sarcastically, “Good to know!” Saliks said, completely oblivious to Matthew’s sarcasm. With that, Saliks stood up, tossed Matthew an Arc Rifle, and headed back out of the building. It took them a few minutes of walking, but Saliks somehow managed to spot a Fallen Skiff not too far away and waved it down. It landed only a few yards away. Matthew took a deep breathe then exhaled. “Relax, I got your back.” Saliks said, attempting to reassure his human friend. Matthew shook his head. They eventually reached the landed Skiff and two of the eight or so hatches were opened, hooks extending out of them. Saliks gestured to one of them. “You want me to go into that?” Matthew practically hissed, trying not to draw attention. Saliks nodded. Matthew lightly shook his head before balancing himself on the hook as it drew him into the pod-like space.
