//edit Thanks everyone for the great advice- I just got it done and got the pulse rifle! Didn't even need the super :)
Has anyone managed to do this? I'm struggling to kill the ogre - lv.31 and no ghorn - and was wondering if it's possible to sneak around and/or hide somewhere?
I'm also finding it a real bitch to get to the final area by sneaking now compared to normal mode! Before I'd get there in two of three attempts and now it's one in five :/
I don't have mida or Don't Touch Me gauntlets btw - regret not buying that now ..

Edited by That Zexi Guy: 1/22/2015 1:26:05 PMHunters can solo this the easiest, but here's a few methods that always work: - There's a rock next to the pillar you can jump on even with Weight of Darkness to avoid Thrall. It takes some time for the Ogre to get to you, so you have plenty of time to snipe away at him. - If you fail to kill him, there's another method I found accidentally. Standing on the rock and facing the ogres direction, to the left should be a cliff that drops back down to the lower level of the First Phase. I was attempting to avoid Thrall on my Titan, and I fell off the cliff and thought I died. I fell back down to the lower level and survived, and from there, I pretty much just waited out the time until I got my abilities back. There will be no monsters down there. - Use a lot of invisibility. You can also aggro the monsters to a certain spot, go invisible, then hide behind a rock somewhere. Also, make sure you have max agility. Having MIDA with max Agility works very well, too. I am fast enough with MIDA to get far enough from the Thrall after going invisible so that they stop chasing me.

Run it each week
-
have dont touch me's on and patience and time. Literally invisible the whole time.
-
It's pretty easy as a hunter. But it's even easier as a titan. Just pop a bubble in a rock and your good. Or if you have the helm of saint 14, just pop in on the ground where the ogre can't see you. The thralls will be blind and won't attack.
-
Congrats, it's a bit sweaty on hard first few times.

The answer to your problems. No need to fire a single shot. Hunter set all perks to invisibility. Including duration perk. Then set all remaining perks to agility maxed and recovery maxed. Then choose armor that decreases cool down for blink strike. Also choose a gun that increases agility. To start go near the first lamp and kill thrall until you have your super. Go back to starting area and cleanse weight of darkness. Then run to first lamp, either blink strike the first thrall or crouch for invisibility. Alternatively if you can make it to the second lamp without getting melee then do that. THEN crouch or blink for invisibility. Continue this through all the lamps. Remember to pay attention to your cool downs and don't use your super until the ogre or if you're in a pinch. This will take many practice runs to get the rhythm down. Much easier with Don't touch me gauntlets but still possible. Once at the final area activate the plate. Stay there until all the thrall are upon you and blink the closest one. Then run to the lamp in front of you. Ideally you haven't activated this lamp yet. Jump on the rock as your invisibility should have ceased by then. Just before the lamp explodes crouch for invisibility and hop down next to the rock. Then hop back up for safety and go invisible one more time before ogre shows up. At this point all you do is run to the big rock to the left of the little rock. Hide behind it. All the thrall should be by the lamp. Behind this large rock, which is near the far left ledge you can remain undetected, mostly, without being invisible. If you have to, go invisible and run to the next rock. Keep hiding and eventually the bridge will construct and then just run through. The large rocks have small crevasses in them that provide excellent cover. Additionally if you are to far away from the bridge IT WILL NOT BUILD, IT WILL NOT BUILD. You will be waiting for a long time like I did. The key is invisibility management. Remember your super Vanish perk is a last resort. Any questions just ask.

Ive soloed the lamps on hard 3 times in 4 attempts (practice) the key is invisibility and drawing the thrall as far away from the bridge as you can - go invisible and hide behind one of the pillars next to the bridge. Done
-
Recently me and a mate were double teaming the lamp section, tried to jump off that rock to the ledge to be honest. We failed so attempted the normal way. A couple of cloak fails got me killed but he survived (warlock). Eventually, he started bunny hopping down the trail. For some reason, his constant jumping was avoiding the thrall attacks. He literally hopped the whole way, and at some point the thrall abandoned him so he was able to freely get the bridge up and kill the ogre. We were able to do it a second time, but it doesn't always work as I think it's dependent on the thrall being behind you at all times. If they come at you from the side, their swipes will start hitting you.
-
bruh, thats easy af. i'm a 32 warlock and I can do that.
-
I found a spot on a pile of rocks you can jump up to ogre can't see you and thrall can't hit you.jist waited for bridge then ran across.
This is a quote from "The Ben obiwan", who posted this on a Bungie update 2015/01/22. So far it has 3500+ comments and bumps. At 2500 Bungie hid the post. To show support, and to show that we do want change, I move that everyone starts posting this to the forums, for as long as it takes them to listen. Fill the forums with nothing but these posts!! Force them to hear our voices, and to listen! Change starts with us! Keep this trending people! And make replicated posts! Spread the word of "The Ben obiwan!" “The update we'll never get- "We listened to the masses, and are making some changes to the game. 5 million people bought the dlc, so we have plenty of funds to make this game fun again! We are doubling vault space, hell, lets triple it, what do we care? You can now trade your useless ascendant mats for other things, 10 to 1 for radiant mats, 1 to 1 for marks. Survival mode added. Its really fun, and you get more loot the longer you stay alive. Grimoire is accessible in game, so people actually read it. As you complete sections of the grimoire, cut scenes are unlocked, revealing story points, it was always there, we just forgot to put it in. You can now change your characters appearance once a week for 10,000 glimmer. We made some really fun bounties for you to try, because we are sick of the same crap since launch as well. You can now add modifiers to any mission, and complete it for rewards suitable to difficulty. Of course we don't want every single core player looking identical, the outfitter can help. You just need the armor that has the appearance you want and the armor that has the stats you want. Take it to the outfitter with a chunk of some materials or something and BLAM you have sweet, unique armor, it's so -blam!-ing simple, I can't believe we didn't have this in since release. Crota's End sparrow can do tricks. We agree, all those low impact auto rifles and pulse rifles are like shit on a dick. Nobody wants it, so we added some decent/balanced ones. We fixed all them annoying bugs, like the sword disappearing, heavy ammo synth not working, and the Templar random containment fields. Queens Wrath is coming this week. Turns out there is not a problem with YOUR network, it was OUR problem all along. lol. Oh, and 5 more strikes are available, just because we are rolling in cash, and we want to thank you, the customer, for being such a sport, and believing in us." But instead Bungie just carry on, completely oblivious to core problems in the game. Why do I look forward to reading this every week? This could get 1000 bumps, it won't make any difference. I don't think they even read the comments. -the Ben obiwan
Ive ran this multiple times as a hunter for my team. The last time though even with invis and hiding behind the bridge rock they found me.... not sure how?
-
I did it as 31
-
It's easy. Go invisible all the way from lamp to lamp. And at the end activate the last lamp. Jump on the rock. And go invisible and go behind the rock right in front of the bridge to hide. And go invisible when you can. Avoid all the enemies ;)
-
Sniper with high impact stunlocks him. Just e careful not to shoot too fast or he'll fall off the edge and reappear over on the left side.
-
Do you have black hammer? That should do the trick.
-
Another user posted a video today as a lvl 31 hunter using blink and popped his super to make the jump up onto the wall at the second lantern. Dunno why I never thought to try it but it will make getting to the bridge a lot easier
-
I can do it without jumping in anything just using my invis subclass. I have don't touch me but I don't use them cause I haven't upgraded them xD
-
Edited by Andy2Spooky5me: 1/25/2015 3:56:43 PMThis hunter just ran around in circles the entire time and managed not to die, whole raid group was very impressed :) and as you can see in the video a few seconds in you'll see the ogre purple laser thing, so yes he didn't kill the ogre. http://xboxclips.com/Yolo+Swag+Andy/da1d64bf-56cb-4127-8e21-68e0ee7d98ca

So easy
-
I used don't touch me when I went through it. I had to do it as a level 30 because my gear wasn't the best. It was really difficult and took forever but I did it. 5 different ways to turn invisible.
-
Patience and Time is what I've used to perma cloak as a Titan.
-
Did this on my warlock inches away from failure. Got the pulse rifle
-
Did it first day as a lvl 30 hunter! 2 shards was my reward :(
-
Edited by SweaterBenderTV: 1/25/2015 8:43:26 AMI did it today too on hard solo! With my level 31 Hunter. I got the pulse rifle and gauntlets! Edit: I tweeted about it @PharaohNiwde.

The Mida Multi-Tool really helps running from lantern to lantern, you shouldn't get more than 2 stacks of weight between each one.
